A three-year hiatus comes to an end on Sept. 6 for the South Alberta Light Horse Regimental Museum.
The South Alberta Light Horse Regiment Foundation announced Tuesday that the museum will reopen to the public after a lengthy break.
Public will be able to arrange visits every Wednesday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., from Sept. 6 through Nov. 29.
The museum was “established nearly 15 years ago “as a venue to highlight the service of local and regional citizens who have served” with Canada’s military.
“Citizens from all corners of Alberta have served in the Regiment and the units it perpetuates in all fields of conflict and peacekeeping roles for over a century. The community of Medicine Hat especially, has benefitted from the dedicated service of the soldiers of the Regiment during several catastrophic floods and clean-up efforts,” reads the Tuesday release. “Patterson Armoury was once a drill hall on the site of Camp No. 132. It has been renovated and developed into the home of the South Alberta Light Horse, recognized as “Alberta’s Regiment”. With squadrons based in Medicine Hat, Edmonton and Lethbridge the Regiment continues to have a positive impact on these communities.”
Volunteers will be on site to provide information and answer any questions visitors may have.
The release states 2024 will feature a similar schedule, to be released in the future.
