Rotary Club of Medicine Hat to hold dedication ceremony for Rotary Centennial Trail

By Medicine Hat News on July 13, 2023.

The Rotary Club of Medicine Hat will officially celebrate completion of the Rotary Centennial Trail Project on Monday.

More than six years ago, the Rotary Club started putting together ideas for the project leading up to the club’s 100th anniversary in 2018. That year, the club was presented with the idea to create a roadway for cyclists and pedestrians that connects the communities of Desert Blume and Medicine Hat, and by fall of the following year the trail was complete.

“The Rotary Centennial Trail Project is an excellent example of community partners coming together to address community needs, take action and make an impact,” outgoing president Melanie Harty said in a press release.

The dedication ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will finally be held with a ribbon-cutting and celebration of the legacy of the Rotary Centennial Project on Monday at noon.

“We are extremely pleased with how the Trail has turned out, but COVID-19 arrived before proper signage could be placed or a ribbon-cutting planned,” club president Bruce Shepard said in the release.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a chair if standing is difficult.
