Locals perform at provincial festival

Medicine Hat News Twenty-seven Medicine Hat musicians were recommended by adjudicators at the Medicine Hat Rotary Music Festival or Brooks Festival to compete at the provincial festival in Edmonton, which took place May 27 to June 2. There, the following performers were finalists in their disciplines. Tyler Casat – Second Place – Vocal Solo Boys – 16 and under (representing Brooks) Seanachie Clark – Second Place – Viola Solo – Senior Debasri Jena – Second Place – Speech Solo – 12 and under Robert Lee – Second Place – Woodwind Solo – 16 and under Laec Lorentzen – Second Place – Cello or Double Bass Solo – 12 and under Soren Lorentzen – Second Place – Violin Solo – 16 and under Hannah Round – Second Place – Piano Solo – Grades/Level 2-4 Samantha Scott – Second Place – Vocal Solo – Senior Lucas Semrau – Second Place – Musical Theatre Solo Ballad – 16 and under Other locals participating at the provincial festival were: Kaitlyn Affleck, Abby Bacon, Matthew Birtle, Gabrielle Campbell, Rebecca Feere, Roan Foshaug, Daniel Kim, Denis Kim, Ella Lahey, Caitlyn O’Connor (representing Brooks), Rhys Parks, Dominik Pilgrim (representing Brooks), Faustina Schmid, Krysa Schlenker, Kenaniah Schnare (representing Brooks), Jessica Schnell, Bailey Streifel (representing Brooks), Jocelyn Walters. 14-13
