Thursday’s Pecha Kucha will be a Monarch Theatre fundraiser

The Medicine Hat Pecha Kucha committee has announced a nine-person lineup for its first event of 2018, Pecha Kucha 17, to be held at the Monarch Theatre Thursday night.

The first speaker hits the stage at 7:30 p.m.

Pecha Kucha events are short presentations by community members to inform listeners about something that they’re passionate about.These nights help to build awareness and community.

Thursday’s event will be presented as a fundraiser for the Monarch Theatre, which is raising money for a new roof. Organizers are suggesting a $5 donation to attend. There will be a cash bar and the concession will be open, so you can enjoy a cool drink and popcorn while listening to the interesting and inspiring speakers.

The lineup includes:

— Noriko Masuda — Her ceramic process and work

— Mandy Metz — self mastery

— Lindsay Poloni — Cyber Seniors program

— John Cherwonogrodzky — Touring Israel – Do I smell tear gas?

— Angélique Doyle — Laughter yoga

— Leah Murray – CHAT reporter — a day in the life of a TV news reporter in Medicine Hat

— Karl Serfas and Rob Hopkins — Water drilling ministry mission in Haiti

— Kris Bischke — beautiful birthmark.
