An Olympic-style event featuring local cadets is scheduled for Feb. 17 at the Pattison Armouries.

The three cadet programs in the city — 15 Medicine Hat Ryal Canadian Air Cadets; 145 Medicine Hat Royal Canadian Sea Cadets; and 2313 South Alberta Light Horse Royal Canadian Army Cadets — will work as teams in seven different events.

The cadets, alongside some of the city’s public servants, will work as teams to try to win gold medals. The public is also invited to come out and cheer on the cadets.

Nakai Garrison, treasurer for the Medicine Hat Sea Cadet parent branch, says cadet programs teach young people discipline, respect, community involvement, teamwork, leadership skills and pride.

The event begins at 9 a.m.
