Dear editor, While our community and hospital staff struggle with increasing numbers of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, and the news and social media is abuzz with conflicting views and controversies, we all need to pause and spare a thought for our nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, porters, x-ray and lab technicians, and other allied health care workers. ... Dear editor, Once again the conservative seniors in our circle of friends find a defeated Reformer in Paul Hinman still trying to promote his lame-brain policies upon the people, ignoring what they will do to us seniors. How many seniors are going to be willing to give up their Old Age Security payments, Canada Pension ... Read More »

Dear editor, With the “snap election” coming up in September, I thought like any good employer (and yes, I am one of his many Canadian employers), I’d do a job review to see if I’d want to rehire Justin Trudeau. Here we go: – You blew the Asia Pacific deal. – You blew the helicopter ... Read More »

Dear editor, I totally agree with the remarks in Tuesday, Aug. 17’s Ticked Off, about the overwatering in the city. Driving from Ross Glen to the Leisure Centre in the rain and seeing the seeing sprinklers on all the way. With the low water level in the river and our drought conditions, has no one ... Read More »

Dear editor, “I feel I am downtrodden,” I told my wife over breakfast the other day. “What do you mean?” she inquired. That opened the door. For 17 months we have followed the rules: we have isolated, sanitized, washed our hands raw, social distanced, worn masks and have been double vaccinated. We’ve gone without concerts, ... Read More »

Dear editor, There is a move afoot in the Cypress-Medicine Hat UCP constituency office and I dare say other constituencies around our province to kickstart fundraising efforts for the purpose of raising awareness through advertising for a strong “yes” vote in the upcoming referendum on equalization. I totally support promoting the referendum, however I believe ... Read More »

Dear editor, Re: Column by Mr. Larry Samcoe, Aug. 5 Mr. Samcoe says “probing climate change is worthwhile.” Why did his column not do so? He did not show errors have been made by the 97% of climate scientists who, for decades, have proven that human activities have changed and are changing Earth’s climate through ... Read More »

Dear editor, The 2021/2021 Olympics has been over for a few weeks. During these tough COVID-19 times, perhaps we should reflect on the gems of positivity in what may feel like a field of negatives. Two such gems have been the superstar runner, Sage Watson, and the internationally recognized commentator, Mark Sakamoto – both from ... Read More »

Dear editor, As of Aug. 19, we have 526 active COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat and district. After Banff, Cypress County and Medicine Hat now have the highest number of active cases per 100,000 population in all of Alberta (743.5 and 735.5). At last report we have 15 people in hospital. These numbers are apparently ... Read More »

Dear editor, Thanks for the extensive coverage you have provided on this extradition case. I have no legal training or expertise but I have a lot of experience knowing what is right and what is wrong. And there is a whole lot more here that is wrong than there is right. Robert Frater appears full ... Read More »

Dear editor, Times are what they are but could be worse. The pandemic seems to be entering its fourth wave. Our nurses are undervalued and are picketing. The smoke from the forest fires makes me carry my inhaler everywhere. The drug overdoses have reached an all time high. To me however, I am always surprised ... Read More »
