These businesses provide goods and services that are voluntarily purchased or, in other words, things that people need or want. Taxes decrease the productivity of businesses which means less product, less employment, less income to buy other products. Taxes decrease ... Read More »

It came to my recent attention from a NDP news release has accused Jason Kenney of withholding information regarding the UCP caucus deficit. It is the Speaker of the House who should know about this, as he is the one that controls the purse strings of the legislative house. I know a complaint has been ... Read More »

Re: “Business Beat: Proposed corporate tax changes cause for concern,” Sept. 6 What a neat idea the executive director of the Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce has of putting quotation marks around words she doesn’t seem to agree with () Did she actually mean to be so condescending? If so, it sure worked on me. ... Read More »

Re: “Guest Column: Human right are for everyone,” Sept. 6 I agree with Elizabeth Strange, human rights are for everyone. However the right to profit from illegal actions is another thing. I was very disappointed in the Labour Day weekend overage for reporting of the CFL games played. I believe there was a game Sunday afternoon between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It never even made a mention in the News, but big coverage for the battle of Alberta. Are not all the teams ... Read More »

Re: “Important to stay abreast of advancing science,” Sept. 7 Thank you to Fred Lewis for his letter in which I was glad to read him urging others to become informed about scientific information. An idea for Medicine Hat city council for the lot at the corner of First Street and Sixth Avenue S.E. Keep the lot, fix it up and then let the people in the city have a cool place to play all summer in a wading pool. You could call the area Sixth Avenue Plaza. And ... Read More »

I’m writing about the changes to the transit system from my own experience that happened to me. I wish and hope that the Medicine Hat city council will reconsider this decision they have made to corrupt something that was never broken in the first place. Sept. 8 was my first time taking the new route ... Read More »

I was very disappointed with the contractor redoing Strachan Road this summer, and also Spruce Way last year. They tore up a perfectly good road to redo it. Both these roads were in very good shape. I believe some managers are advising city council to do these so they will last another 20 years. These ... Read More »

Why is this country divided by man-made lines needing redundant provincial governing bodies? Surely a national and municipal government with county representation would be able to manage and deliver on the needs of the people of Canada. When I take an eraser and eliminate borders on a map of Canada, nothing changes. By redrawing the ... Read More »
