CAROLINE MAGDELENA VAN MAARION (nee GREENSTEIN)
Caroline is also survived by her brother, Joseph; in-laws, Viv Child, Ed Ziegler, Jack and Ella Van Maarion; special people, members of the Red Rock Ladies Aide; Tammy, Dalyce, Dustin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Caroline was predeceased by her son, Brent; sisters, Rose Hall (Jim), Clara Ziegler, Frances Edelman (Erich); brothers, Mike (Helen), Louis (Irene), George (Hazel), Tony (Doris); sisters-in-law, Vivian Greenstein, Anita Greenstein, Eve (Jack) Gloslie, Evelyn (Art) Entzminger; parents, Katharine and Nikolas Greenstein; nieces, Pamela Richardson and Vicki Lynn Leuck and nephew, Eugene Edelman. Caroline grew up in the flats in Medicine Hat, and was employed by Medalta Pottery, The Rex and City Cafes on North Railway Street as well as the farmer’s gardens. She moved to the ranch south of Seven Persons in 1951 where she spent sixty-six wonderful years raising her family. Her passions were cooking, gardening, creating beautiful hand-work projects and hairdressing. Caroline’s goal was to strengthen the importance of family values. She instilled the importance of Sunday dinner for family and guests to gather. At Caroline’s home, the coffee pot was always on, welcoming family, neighbours, friends and strangers to her ranch kitchen. The family would like to thank the staff at Age Care Valley View and Masterpiece Senior’s Home for their care and compassion as well as the staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, including Doctor Best and Doctor VanderMerwe. A Celebration of Caroline’s life will be held at The Christian Reformed Church, 300 Primrose Drive S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January, 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com) If friends so desire, memorial donations in Caroline’s name may be made directly to AJ’s Loan Cupboard, #1, 749 - 14 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4V8.
