1944 ~ FRED BARTRAM ~ 2019

Frederick “Fred” Charles Bartram of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at the age of 74 years. A Come and Go Celebration was held at the SAAMIS CREEKSIDE CENTRE, yesterday. AUSMUS, ADELE

With great love and respect, the family of ADELE AUSMUS announce her passing. The Lord called her home in a peaceful manner, with family by her side, at St. Michael’s Health Center in Lethbridge, AB on Friday, February 15th, 2019 at the age of 91 years.
Adele’s life will be forever cherished by her son, Ervin (Michelle); her grandchildren, Courtney (Daniel) Dietrich, and Tiffany (Matt Cahoon); her great-grandchildren, Vienna and Autumn Dietrich; her brother-in-law, Art (Maxine) Ausmus and sister-in-law, Evelyn Ausmus as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Adele is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her beloved son, Vernie; her parents, Jacob and Rosa Zimmerman; her brother, Eugene (Rosie) Zimmerman; her sisters-in law, Hertha (Fred) Mertin, Ida (Sam) Holstein and Linda (Tony) Brehm; and her brother-in-law, Reinhold Ausmus.
Adele was born on July 9th, 1927 in Neusatz, Russia near Odessa. She grew up in a volatile time in Russian history and as she reached her teen years her life as a refugee began. She fled to Poland and later to Germany with her mother. In 1948, she crossed the ocean to build a new life in Canada. Within days, she began working at a senior’s home in Medicine Hat. In 1949, she married Herbert and moved to Leader where their life focused on family, church and work. Together, they worked long hours in their business while farming, too. In 1977, Adele was proud to become a Canadian citizen. Adele and Herb eventually moved to Medicine Hat where they enjoyed semi- retirement returning to the farm each summer. In 2003, Adele moved to Chinook Village where she enjoyed her life very much and treasured the friendships she made.
Adele was well known for her hard work ethic, endless energy, love of family and strong faith. We remember her warm smile, sweet nature, gentle strength, quiet determination and generous spirit. She had a tremendous capacity to love and forgive. She never complained and stayed soft in a world that was not always kind to her. Adele cherished time spent with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren… her absolute pride and joy. She loved playing cards with friends, socializing and travelling. Adele left a beautiful legacy for her family and will forever remain in our hearts. We trust now in the promise of eternal life; may she rest in peace.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Martin Wong; he was very good to Adele as a doctor and also as a friend. His keen interest in world history and Adele’s experiences in Russia were the topic for many interesting conversations between them. We are forever grateful to the wonderful staff of Chinook Village who took care of Adele so lovingly. Also, many thanks Tammy Dietrich and the special caregivers at St. Michael’s Health Center for their compassionate care during her final journey.
In keeping with Adele’s wishes, a private family interment will take place at the Leader Cemetery. A Celebration of Adele’s Life will take place at CHINOOK VILLAGE – 2801 13th Ave. S.E., Medicine Hat, AB in the Terrace Room on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made in Adele’s memory to Chinook Village Care Society. Cornerstone Funeral Home in Lethbridge, AB is in charge of the arrangements.

Adeline Helen Grona of Medicine Hat passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019, at the age of 83 years, beloved wife of the late John Grona. Funeral arrangements will be announced when completed.
