On Nov. 5, I returned to my role at the City of Medicine Hat after a 15-month parental leave. While I was away, many changes were made including a new slate of councillors being elected.
What hasn’t changed in the time I was away? The incredible amount of entertainment offerings and experiences we have access to as Hatters.
As the manager of marketing and creative services, I oversee the marketing and graphic design components of many brands you’re probably familiar with – the Esplanade, Co-op Place, Tixx, Big Marble Go Centre, the Medicine Hat Regional Airport, and Medicine Hat Economic Development, to name a few.
In this role I get the pleasure of helping to promote some of the best entertainment and recreational experiences our city has to offer. A big perk of my job is being one of the first to know when new shows are added. One of the experiences I never miss is the library-hosted Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour, sponsored by Cancarb. As someone who likes the idea of an adrenaline rush but prefers the safety of a theatre seat – this is the perfect show for me! Watch for tickets to go on sale next week.
Another community-led experience that I love is Pecha Kucha Night. The next night of storytelling is happening at the Esplanade on Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. – mark your calendars! I am proud to serve on the organizing committee and happen to be one of the speakers that night, sharing the story of our son’s adoption and the whirlwind of emotions that happen when you become a parent, overnight.
No matter what show or event you choose to attend, I can say with certainty that you will have a great experience when you visit the Esplanade.
