Kicking off the year

The first show added in the new year is Where Have All the Buffalo Gone?, on Jan. 21. This thought-provoking performance explores themes of history and conservation, inviting audiences to reflect on our connection to the land. As a pay-what-you-will event, it aims to make cultural experiences accessible to all.

On Feb. 10, Piano Heist unfolds a tapestry of music and mystery, where lifelong friends Nico and Patrick embark on a hilarious quest to reclaim the piano’s glory, blending timeless compositions with technology for an unforgettable performance.

Valentine’s Day magic

As Valentine’s Day approaches, we invite you to join us for E By Candlelight on Feb. 14. This enchanting evening promises to set the perfect romantic atmosphere with music by local musicians in an intimate setting.

Family-friendly fun

Families looking for engaging performances will love The Witty Squirrel on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. Another pay-what-you-will event, this show offers a whimsical opera experience for both children and adults, fostering a love for the arts at a young age.

Musical highlights

February continues with vibrant performances, starting with Rhythm of the Dance on Feb. 25, showcasing the richness of Irish culture through dance and music. This will be followed by From Judy to Bette on Feb. 27, a nostalgic tribute to iconic Hollywood’s Golden Age trailblazers that is sure to resonate with many.

As we transition into March, audiences can look forward to the Edmonton Pops Orchestra on Mar. 15 with their Ticket to Hollywood’s music from the movies show, followed by the beloved The Irish Rovers on Mar. 16. These performances highlight the exceptional talent of these musical groups, offering unforgettable evenings filled with lively tunes.

Spring forward into learning

Mar. 25 will see the return of Susan Aglukark, a celebrated Inuk singer/songwriter known for her powerful voice and storytelling. Enjoy one of Canada’s most unique artists as she blends Inuktitut, indigenous and English with contemporary pop music arrangements, and celebrate with her the 30th anniversary of her album This Child.

On Apr. 23, children and families can enjoy The Alphabet of Awesome Science, featuring two shows at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. This interactive performance combines education and entertainment, making science accessible and fun for all ages.

Closing the season with country and jazz

To help finalize our year in the theatre, we have the legendary Bellamy Brothers on May 8, followed by The Atlantic Jazz Collective on May 12. These performances will celebrate the rich musical traditions that resonate across generations.

The Esplanade is dedicated to fostering vibrant arts and heritage in Medicine Hat. We invite the community to experience the joy of live performances and support local and touring artists.
