You never know what you will see on a road trip.
We started early in the morning on our two-day road trip taking the Going-To-The-Sun Road to Kalispell and Whitefish, Montana. The road with its many points of interest is very beautiful this time of year. The mountain air was a break from our summer heat and it was nice to roll down the windows and take in the cool mountain air. The road is also a dream come true for many motorcycle riders who consider this one of the best rides ever.
One of the stops we made in Kalispell was at “Sweet Peaks” where the best Montana handcrafted ice cream is made. You’re bound to fall in love with all the unique flavours.
We also wanted to do a tour of the Conrad Mansion in Kalispell and were lucky to go on the first tour of the day on Sunday. The pre-1900 mansion is architecturally untouched with 90 per cent of the contents being original to the mansion. Three floors (24 rooms) appear much as they did when guests arrived more than 100 years ago. Even Theodore Roosevelt before he became president stayed as a guest at the mansion.
What made this tour of the mansion extra special were the arrival of about 20 Model Ts out front while we were waiting for the tour to begin. This we found out is part of a “Motoring in Montana” tour put on by the Rocky Mountain Model T Chapter which was hosting hundreds of Model T owners from around the world. The tour ran from July 16-21 and we saw hundreds of Model Ts driving around both in Kalispell and Whitefish. It was like stepping back in time.
So take a summer road trip because you just never know what you’ll see or experience along the way.
