By the Way: All Creation Declares the Glory of God

By Scott Raible on June 7, 2025.

Psalm 19:1 – “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

Living here in Medicine Hat, we are surrounded daily by evidence of God’s handiwork.

The wide, open skies stretch across our prairies like a canvas painted fresh each day. The South Saskatchewan River winds through our city, a ribbon of life weaving through the dry coulees and sagebrush.

Each sunrise over the bluffs, each whispering breeze through the cottonwoods speaks something deep to our souls: that God is good, and

His glory is all around us.

When we walk the trails at Police Point Park or look across the golden fields at harvest time, we are reminded that creation is not random.

It’s intentional.

The same God who carved the Badlands and filled the skies with geese in migration also shaped our hearts and calls us to see Him in all He has made.

Romans 1:20 tells us, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.”

This means we don’t need to travel far to encounter God’s majesty. It’s in the deer crossing the coulee path at dusk, in the sudden prairie storm and in the quiet stillness of a snowy field.

But creation does more than reflect God’s power-it reflects His goodness. Just as He provides rain and sunshine to nourish the land, He provides mercy and grace for our souls. Every harvest that feeds us is a reminder of His provision. Every star overhead reminds us that even in the vastness, we are not forgotten.

In a city nicknamed “The Gas City,” we might be tempted to think of industry before majesty-but even our natural resources point to the Creator who filled this land with abundance.

Let’s not miss the wonder.

So next time you’re walking your dog along the river or watching a Chinook roll over the hills, pause. Take it in. Let creation preach to you. Let it remind you of a God who is powerful, generous, and glorious beyond measure.

All creation in Medicine Hat and beyond cries out: God is good. God is glorious. Come and see.
