All Psyched Up: Energy

By Linda Hancock on April 12, 2025.

It seems like everywhere I turn, I have been hearing the word “energy.” An internet search immediately showed two very different dictionary definitions. One is at a personal level and states, “The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity,” and refers to personal well-being. The second is,”Power derived from the utilization of physical or chemical resources,” and refers to light, heat and machines. “Nuclear energy” is an example.

Politicians and economists seem to be preoccupied with sources for and costs of energy required in the world. There are debates about whether to use solar or wind-power, coal, oil, or gas and offer arguments for and against each choice. Environmentalists talk about the importance of using electric cars rather than those that require gasoline. We hear about 5G and how some are supporting this while others are suspicious about whether there are negatives that outweigh the benefits.

Each of us uses energy on a daily basis and just take it for granted that when we flip a switch, we will have light or push a button, and we will have heat. Energy keeps our computers and phones running so that they can facilitate communication and provide information for any topic we might want to research.

On a personal level, I find it fascinating that often people have told me that when I enter a room, the energy level rises for everyone. At first, I didn’t believe that but have recently noticed that there is some validity to their perspectives. At the opposite end of the scale are those who tell me that they just don’t have any energy and their fatigue as well as lack of motivation supports that.

Last month, for the first time, I took a course on the “Law of Attraction,” and was surprised to get some, but not all, answers to the whole “energy” conundrum. The teacher explained that there used to be a big gap and debates between science and religion, each of which thought that they had the best way to explain life.

We can all likely accept the fact that everything is made up of atoms which have three parts, neutrons, protons and electrons. Advancements in science have been able to keep breaking each of these down into smaller and smaller parts, and, to put it simply, have reached a point where they get to absolutely nothing.

This brings up a real dilemma. If we are made up of atoms, just like everything else, why are we, as humans, different from the inanimate or even from animals? How do we understand and deal with the three realms of mental, abstract and physical interaction and unity? Consciousness and intentionality are still mysteries for religion and for science.

Recently, one of the most famous world scientists, Roger Penrose, who had worked with Steven Hocking, explained the fact that scientists cannot explain many things that are not simply physical or scientific. Is there an omniscient mind that creates a physical world based on a mathematical blueprint? Our minds create but what gives them the power to do this?

Over the centuries, individuals have formed beliefs that they hold onto and promote in order to explain why we are here and what our purpose is. Neither science nor religion can seem to explain everything. People and groups have very different ideas about death and after-life. Does our mind create or manage energy before and after life on earth?

In the “Law of Attraction” course I was fascinated about the way in which the instructor stated that life is like a large checkerboard and each square is designed for a different energy frequency. Our thoughts and words change our frequency, so we do have some control by making choices and therefore land in different squares at different times.

Those who think and speak positively and with creative energy might sit on one square while those who have had unhealed trauma generate a lower frequency and sit on a different square. Like attracts like.

It’s kind of like a magnet.

Think about the times that you have suffered and later said “I knew that would happen.” Now think about the times that you have succeeded at something and how you said, “I knew that would happen.”

Are your thoughts and words creating outcomes? Is spirituality just an energy for which our mind has the control switch? If so, perhaps it is time to do more study about this and learn how to turn up the frequency?

This is a very complex topic but extremely interesting. This week think about what square of the checkerboard you tend to rest upon.

Are there others there who are at the same frequency? Do you want to move to another square? According to the Law of Attraction, you have the ability to do so. Just change your thoughts and words to a more positive frequency.

Simple – but not easy!
