Nature has been the inspiration of poetry for centuries, and the Interpretive Program at Police Point Park, aims to continue that tradition with its Poetic Paths workshop on Friday, July 14.

A walk through Police Point’s expansive path system to some of the park’s “natural wonders” will serve as the backdrop for the poetic creations of those who attend.

“Abstract, haiku, and narrative are just some of the forms of poetry that will be explored. You do not need to have any poetry experience for this program, just a bit of creativity,” reads a release from the Interpretive Program.

“As we will be outside, please dress for the weather. If you have a journal/notebook and writing utensils please bring those, if not supplies will be provided.”

Registration is not required to attend the workshop, though events put on by the Interpretive Program “are made possible by donations,” reads the release.

Those looking to flex their poetic muscle can meet at the Nature Centre for a 10 a.m. departure into the park.

More information on this event, as well as others hosted by the Interpretive Program, can be found at natureline.info, by calling the Nature Line at 403-529-6225 or visiting Police Point Park’s pages on Facebook and Instagram.
