River Heights Elementary always tries to put on an amazing Remembrance Day tribute and this year’s was even more exceptional, say schol officials.

As people entered the gym, they saw poppies hanging down from the ceiling. Each poppy represented someone from Medicine Hat who died during the First or Second World War, the Korean War and in Afghanistan. Each poppy had a name and which conflict ended their life. The school’s display represented the 313 soldiers and two nurses from Medicine Hat who served and died during the wars and international conflicts.

Also pictured is Ms. Willock talking with her Grade 1 students about the meaning of the poppies and the importance of remembering and showing respect.
