Medicine Hat News Vincent Massey School is holding a “Seed to Table” family night on Feb. 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. School staff, parent volunteers, and community volunteers will have stations set up for parents and students to take part in and rotate through (community business volunteering their time include Dee’s Baked Goods as well as DeWolfe Strength & Nutrition Coaching). Some of the stations include: making homemade pickles, making your own unique salads, worm composting, collaborative art mural, making no-bake healthy desserts. The idea for a ‘Seed to Table’ event came from the school’s nutrition coordinator, Ammy Blenner-Hasset, as she has been so involved with students’ families this year in providing meals to the entire school population through the Alberta Education School Nutrition Program Grant the school received. “We felt that our parent and student population would benefit from these fun, healthy, and easy to do at home ideas,” said vice-principal Lindsay Steiner. 7
