Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Aug. 13, 2024

Tickled Pink

Thanks to the lady who took her time to tie my shoelace while standing in line at the bank today! I’m a senior with breathing disabilities that prevent me from bending over. It’s nice to know there are still thoughtful and kind people in the world. I felt bad I couldn’t do it for myself. Hopefully some day, you wont have to stand in my shoes, but if you do watch out, they’re probably untied.

Ticked Off

At landlords who rent out a home and the property never gets watered or mowed. You rent these homes outside of your neighbourhoods. I am sick and tired of the mess on these properties, you should all be fined. Take some of that rental money and clean up your property, or maybe bylaw needs to get involved.

Tickled Pink

Seeing that Calgary is going back to water restrictions to repair the main that broke earlier, I’m very grateful so many of our city departments are working in sync to proactively maintain our infrastructure before bad stuff happens to us.

Ticked Off

Trudeau’s carbon tax on natural gas is almost double what the cost of the gas is. Isn’t a tax supposed to be a percentage of the product, not twice the price of the product? He has to go.

Tickled Pink

That the construction on Division Avenue by Swirls is on schedule. To the person wondering why it is taking so long, it is a complicated project and takes time to build properly. Patience is a virtue.

Tickled Pink

With a story on what happened to the Medicine Hat College’s community education programs. There used to be a thick course catalog with everything from beginner’s welding to watercolour painting, from wine tasting to yoga. Why did all that end?

Tickled Pink

With the CBC’s Olympic coverage. The ability to play back events at my leisure is awesome.

Ticked Off

At the people who keep thinking our power plants are owned by the citizens of Medicine Hat. The city owns them, not us citizens. So tired of the false information going around constantly.

Ticked Off

At people who think the renaming of Human Services at the city is costing taxpayers. They changed the name which doesn’t cost anything. And who cares if we have remote workers? As long as we have qualified people getting the job done, what does it matter?

Tickled Pink

I get a great laugh out of people who comment on historical political figures like Lougheed. He was a good premier, but he was not a mayor as the original comment was referring to Nenshi v. Klein. Read the whole thing before you write anonymously chicken comments.

Ticked Off

I agree with the person who said that Medicine Hat roads are not designed to have bike paths. Some certain types of people here have a hard time with stop signs and signal lights. It’s not a mater of if, but when someone will be hurt. There are too many man-boys around trying to prove they’re cool.

Ticked Off

Organizations that are supposed to help the homeless are failing badly.

Ticked Off

Next time you’re in emergency sitting next to our premier for four to six hours, tell her she should get more doctors like she promised.

Ticked Off

“People who keep dogs are cowards who haven’t got the guts to bite people themselves.”

— August Strindberg (Swedish playwright)

Ticked Off

Now, more than ever I challenge any council member to survive on the streets of “beautiful downtown Medicine Hat” for 48 hours.

Ticked Off

With the amount of money pro athletes are getting. How can you justify making millions when the people paying to see you make maybe $50K a year? Just because you’re an athlete. Not a doctor, or curing a disease to help mankind.

Tickled Pink

Really? Breakdancing is an Olympic sport? Ballroom dancing and disco could be next!

Tickled Pink

That yet another Ross Glen garage break-in has upended the lives of another young family. What a wonderful opportunity for our police, judges and social workers to combine efforts that will ultimately confirm the perpetrators are most certainly entitled to the belongings of others, along with taxpayer funded wellness programs, wrist slaps and lip service.

Ticked Off

With the way the city is re-engineering our intersections by pinching them down to half the width, creating a bottleneck. Many motorists barely have the skills to navigate a normal sized intersection. I nearly get hit in my own lane by left-turning cars cutting the corner as I wait to proceed. I know they call it “traffic calming,” but it has the opposite of the desired effect.

Tickled Pink

Pat King should be appreciating his jailhouse freedoms. Free accommodation, free food, freedom from work. I wonder why free vaccination didn’t appeal to him.

Tickled Pink

Saw an ad in the News for 15-can case of Alberta-made beer for $10.99. So I went to that store and bought it and it’s decent beer, and what a deal! It pays to check the ads in the News!

Ticked Off

City administration, read the room. You have caused enough damage to our community. Taxpayers do not deserve the mess you have made.

Ticked Off

With the layout of all the Cars and Guitars at the Stampede grounds. The organization and space was much better at Co-op Place.

Tickled Pink

As much as it is a construction site on the Third street in the 600 block, shopping is always a pleasure at one of the best ladies wear stores in town! The deals were incredible, plus I got some quality pieces that will last.

Tickled Pink

A big thank-you to the postal worker at the main post office who went above and beyond by helping get my parcel to me in time to take it out of town, as it was a birthday gift for my daughter. Much appreciated!

Tickled Pink

By the young man working in the lumber yard at Rona on Sunday. He was very pleasant and helpful loading my fence boards. Thank you.

Tickled Pink

Finally got fittings for a new bra, such professional staff at Medicine Hat’s only true lingerie store. The sports bras are incredibly supportive.

Ticked Off

MH News online poll Aug. 9, 2024: Who will make the better Vice President of the United States? – JD Vance, 37%; Tim Walz, 63%. I assume this majority would be Trudeau supporters.

Tickled Pink

By the local Little League team that made it to the national finals. Good job.

Tickled Pink

Would be if all the local charities that ask for money had to publish the programs they provide. Time to see how much is being spent on actual administrative costs/operational and what the benefits to the community are. Millions of dollars to build, but how many citizens actually go into these places to use them and the programs.

Ticked Off

The great rains in May saved a lot of water rationing here in the Hat, and I think we got off lucky this year. With the fires across Alberta and the water main issues in Calgary, no one seems to be focusing on our water outlook for the future. I would be Tickled Pink if either local MLA could tell us what is being planned to offset future water shortages in this forgotten corner. Please step up and say something.

Tickled Pink

The local markets in Medicine Hat are amazing. We have some very talented people around.
