Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, April 30

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on April 30, 2024.

Ticked Off

That council is delaying the submission of their reports. What are they hiding? I can just about imagine.

Ticked Off

Roast to the editor. You must be paid by local organizations to only publish what you want and not what is submitted in ticked off. (Editor’s note: I get that cheque at the end of the month, then the Trudeau one on the first, but the one from George Soros was actually a lump-sum payment.)

Tickled Pink

I now look forward to the Tuesday and Thursday editions of the News. The Ticked Off & Tickled Pink writers provide insight or amusement. We do have our share of controversies these days. And the editor’s notes are spot on and amusing.

Tickled Pink

Let’s face it, the deer in our city have become family. Unfortunately many walk with a limp which obviously means they have been hit by a vehicle. Why isn’t there a program to tranquilize and tag them with reflective ear or brisket tags so people can see and avoid them better?

Tickled Pink

If Mayor Clark is paying the normal fees to the FOIP to get the info she is seeking!

Tickled Pink

So pleased the premier is having multiple viewpoints on the COVID inquiry. Why do people want just the same propaganda and yes men? What are you afraid of that they might find?

Ticked Off

That the UCP is leaning further into TBA’s conspiracy lunacy with their proposed municipal election changes. If you’re in favour of this but against federal involvement of provincial matters, not only are you a hypocrite, you’re a… well they won’t print what I want to say.

Ticked Off

Medicine Hat News front page: UCP introduces municipal bill saying cities need to be more transparent. Next article; provincial government blocks release of coal mining documents. I agree democracy needs transparency. Municipal bill introduced by the premier is not un-democratic. It is anti-democratic.

Ticked Off

Why doesn’t the CBC change the name to LBC for Leafs Broadcast Corporation? Other Canadian teams aren’t shown on the”national” network. What’s gonna happen when they lose out?

Tickled Pink

If the bullying at the city by some of the city councillors towards the mayor is proven correct, these two council members should be stood down with the proposed changes by the provincial government. There is no place for bullying or harassment no matter what level you are.

Ticked Off

I have never had a green yard waste garbage bin because the city wants me to pay $50 for one. I think the city should give me a bin so I can contribute to the compostable program instead of putting all of the compostables (5-10 bins per year) into the grey bin.

Ticked Off

Every time a new press release comes out of Edmonton, I get more horrified at the atrocious nerve of our premier. Now she wants to control municipal elections and affairs as well as provincial affairs. A minor dictator is what she’s become. Please, Albertans, vote wiser next time. Smith has done nothing positive for Alberta up to now. She needs to be recalled.

Ticked Off

Why do so few seniors join the Veiner Centre? It is definitely a place for upper-income seniors. What about lower-income seniors? Where are they to go?

Ticked Off

Charities must realize that there are two reasons for donating: the donor supports the work of the charity and, often more importantly, the tax receipt. If the charity wants to receive continued support, it must provide tax receipts in an efficient manner, I am really considering stopping donating to one charity after the struggle I had getting the tax receipt. This same charity had no difficulty in sending me a letter asking for a donation.

Ticked Off

Will city council consider doing the right thing maybe they could talk Bob Nicolay or Merete Heggelund in coming out of retirement to straighten the ship at city hall. We never had these issues we are seeing with previous city managers.

Ticked Off

So now the all powerful guru of Alberta plans to do to the municipalities exactly what she claims the Feds are doing to Alberta. Ironic, I would say she is definitely overstepping her jurisdiction.

Tickled Pink

Well done to Medicine Hat Firehall Theatre for their wonderful performance of Grumpy Old Men. The cast were absolutely fantastic. It is simply amazing how much talent there is in our community. Kudos to those who worked behind the scenes because without you, the show cannot go on.

Tickled Pink

If the provincial government passes the Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act, I would be tickled pink if their first action was to fire Medicine Hat city council. This council is useless.

Ticked Off

The government and city have been constantly reminding people on conserving water usage. Have neighbours who water their lawns for two to four hours at a time. Talk about wasting.
