Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, April 11, 2024

Tickled Pink

The Colin James concert on Saturday night was fantastic, No big backup band, just three great guitarists with a great sound. Best time without my hearing aids in years.

Tickled Pink

A great big thank-you to the Medicine Hat Tigers for providing us with a very entertaining 2023-24 season. See you in September. Go Tigers go!

Tickled Pink

To know climate change is a major reason why food prices are rising. It interferes with normal food production, causes drought and crop failure. This creates shortage and resultant increase in prices.

Ticked Off

At the NIMBYs in Harlow protesting the construction of a much needed housing development because the building will… cast a shadow? This just sounds like a bunch of bored people looking for something to make a big stink about.

Ticked Off

That companies use rich spoiled celebrities or sports stars to sell their products. They have money to burn and want us to buy the products only they can afford. Give me local word of mouth anytime.

Ticked Off

To the person who won’t listen to “so-called” experts. I guess next time you’re injured, stay away from a doctor or the ER, and don’t call an ambulance, because those experts work there. They won’t know what to do for you.

Tickled Pink

If people would read and understand the Municipal Government Act, as then they would realize council acted entirely appropriately with respect to the mayor’s conduct.

Tickled Pink

That our premier stated she would twin Highway 3. But wait, her predecessor said the same thing that twinning would start in 2021. How soon we forget. But, the twinning will start when the doctors promised arrive. All politicians say the right things, but doing is a different story.

Ticked Off

That on the commercial for my burger, it looked so good. Perfectly put together. The one I bought looked like it was thrown together from across the room. Even my foot-long fell apart.

Ticked Off

Some MH people are so determined not to see growth in this city. Here is a thought, no growth, no reason why the younger generation will stay here. No younger generation, then who will look after the aging population? We need growth for the younger generations to get educated and to want to live here. Medicine Hat has an extremely slow growth rate. We need more industry for that growth to happen.

Ticked Off

I really think we should have some kind of plebiscite vote for no confidence in the city council and have them removed. There is too much shady activity going on. We are a laughing stock to the rest of Canada.

Tickled Pink

Good news with the irrigation report. We need more dams, a more usable river in Medicine Hat and new beautiful lakes.

Ticked Off

Not really ticked off just really disappointed to see our Tigers eliminated from the playoffs again in the first round. Good teams find ways to win close games but I guess our team wasn’t as good as management and coaching staff thought.

Ticked Off

Imagine that, the highest unemployment in the province of Alberta is in part within the constituency that Danielle Smith represents. Maybe next time we should elect someone who lives in the region and knows our economy. What has she done to make your life better?

Tickled Pink

If we dam the river I can start borrowing my neighbour’s boat more often.

Tickled Pink

The local chapter of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society put in a tremendous evening celebrating the 100th anniversary of the RCAF at the Monarch Theatre. The After Dark Jazz Band was wonderful, and the commemorative film clips were terrific. I would watch them all again. Sic Itur Ad Astra!

Ticked Off

Let’s clean house. Call an election now. Hire all new upper city managers.

Ticked Off

That some who feel strongly about Bill C-63 based on Mr. Motz’s comments, don’t take the trouble to read it for themselves. It’s mainly about harms to children.

Ticked Off

That people are shocked there’s so many Liberal/NDP supporters around. You know Medicine Hat has elected NDP candidates before, right? Maybe try to treat people as individuals and not just boil it down to Team A vs Team B.

Tickled Pink

Hilarious how the City of Brooks allows in-town feedlots to dictate its economic development. The city would have grown five times its size had it not smelled so bad. The City of Calgary had feedlots and moved them out of town as it grew. Tax them accordingly and find them other locations.

Ticked Off

OMG, get off the stage, Andy McGrogan, you would make a terrible mayor.

Ticked Off

That people would support two four-storey condos being erected in Harlow. Where are persons going to park? Are they condos, or are they low-cost housing? Do not support this project.

Ticked Off

The Harley bikers are out in full force with loud baffles and tailgating avengence. To the one tailgating me, next time I’ll slam by brakes and you can pay for my damages. Be a real man and drive properly, you’re not impressing anyone. (Editor’s note: OK, but the thing you’re threatening to do is super illegal so keep that in mind. Also, don’t TOTP and drive… also illegal.)

Ticked Off

None of council claim they want to be mayor, so why put such sanctions against the mayor then? I do not believe council has a clue what mess they were getting themselves in to. I won’t vote for those council members again. I want them all to go now.

Tickled Pink

That Coun. Sharps issued an apology, even though it was completely blown out of proportion. She stood up and did exactly what she said she would. Mayor Clark could learn a thing or 10 about leadership.

Tickled Pink

That our council, no matter what is happening, most of them are still doing their job. We invited all of them out to Harlow and Couns. Sharps and McGrogan showed up. Maybe you guys could sanction the mayor one more time, she tends to show up when she is sanctioned.

Ticked Off

The reason so many people are complaining about Smith, Poilievre, etc. from this area is because many of us ex-conservatives are totally disenchanted with the present conservative platforms. I will never support Conservatives again.

Tickled Pink

That I don’t have to sit on council, it’s a difficult job at the best of times. However, let’s move forward and learn how to do the job, delegate where necessary and dump the garbage.

Ticked Off

What difference will it make if we have a new complaint process or ethics committee if our unelected city manager does the hiring?

Tickled Pink

At Coun. McGrogran. You are disappointed in the council, yes we are, too. Thank you for acknowledging it. Your resigning would likely help the council to “thrive.” The council isn’t collaborating like you thought they should, guessing you are part of the problem.

Ticked Off

The provincial government has barely said anything about our mayor being stripped of her powers. They should not have allowed this to happen, and changes should be made to the municipalities legislation.

Ticked Off

Once again the UCP government objects to the federal government’s actions, how predicable. This time it is because money for housing is going directly to municipalities. Smith would like it to go through the provincial government so she can take credit. She is so sad.

Tickled Pink

Canada Post employees at the main post office on Kipling Street are wonderful. Professional, helpful knowledgeable and just nice people. Thank you for your hard work.

Tickled Pink

There are so many awesome clothing stores downtown, people need to take a look. I like clothing that can last for years instead of clothing that is only in style now.
