Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, April 9, 2024

Ticked Off

Given my druthers, I take whatever so-called, unnamed “experts” have to say with a grain of salt. Hard to find many who have got anything right the last few years. I’ll stick to life experience and observation.

Ticked Off

I don’t understand how calmly questioning someone constitutes a breach of Code of Conduct. If that is the case, how was the previous mayor never sanctioned so harshly? And if you think this is bullying you’ve obviously never experienced real bullying. The whole situation is shady.

Ticked Off

I am 100 per cent regretful for voting for our current mayor. Ever heard of a wolf in sheep’s clothing?

Ticked Off

What says loads about the 7-0 councillor votes is that the councillors have not learned anything about following proper procedures and bylaws. Tsk, tsk.

Ticked Off

At my noisy neighbourhood and the police who know these guys race up and down the street at high speeds, revving their engines, etc.

Ticked Off

Our Canadian Dental Plan! Firstly, my dentist refuses to participate because they “don’t have enough information about it.” ??? Also, I have and still do pay a substantial amount of income tax. Now I am penalized and can’t have full coverage! I am scratching my head.

Ticked Off

I understand it is difficult to challenge certain comments, however, given the recent amount of ridiculous TOTP articles demonizing, “Axe the Tax,” Danielle Smith, Trump, Poilievre and UCP are nauseating. These are obviously written by the same hand or group of hands who collude to craft their purely politically motivated and skewed comments. Since when did Medicine Hat of all places have an NDP/Liberal base?

Ticked Off

I am certain all the ‘axe the tax’ protesters are conservatives. They are the best whiners in the country.

Tickled Pink

Got a huge smile on my face after reading a single word in a submission to TOTP about the problems with city hall/City of Medicine Hat. That word was “nepotism.” This issue has been ignored for decades and I’m so glad it’s been brought up. Qualified people should not be overlooked because a friend or family member of council needs a job.

Tickled Pink

Kelly of Comm. TV rocks! Keep it up, their feet to the fire, so to speak.

Tickled Pink

With the letter written to the councillors by the “Support Linnsie Petition Committee,” which appeared in the News on April 4. It was well written and I agree with the content 100 per cent.

Ticked Off

At how people make their own parking spots around the Co-op Place public skating entrance all winter long. Come on, police it. Also, ticked off that after the snow melts the parking lines are barely visible.

Tickled Pink

That the citizens have stepped up and are fighting for Mayor Clark. Congratulations on supporting integrity, accountability and transparency. I truly hope the citizens can counter this attempt by the council to thwart the transparency that Mayor Clark was trying to bring into our city.

Tickled Pink

The federal government is avoiding ‘blue tape’ by going directly to mayors of municipalities with money to build, build, build.

Ticked Off

At the recent article in your paper that gave the impression that crop insurance was free. Far from the truth. If the premium to insure a house was as high as crop insurance, few people could afford to insure.

Ticked Off

That the Harlow residents are petitioning about two condo buildings being built. These condos are for families and others to purchase and live in. Shame on these particular residents to think this doesn’t fit in their area. Many nice areas have condos in them.

Ticked Off

$150K for an airport study? If more jet-engined aircraft are able to use the airport the already annoying noise will become worse. MH already has a noise problem. If MH is to become the thriving metropolis we all hope for, the airport should be moved, perhaps north of Redcliff, adjacent to the TCH bypass, which will inevitably one day be built.

Ticked Off

If council and the city manager have nothing to hide, what is wrong with doing a provincial audit? The citizens are owed transparency.

Ticked Off

It is bad enough that you get posts praising our premier. Now you got one praising Trump. What is next, a letter from the climate change denier in Bow Island?

Ticked Off

That our very unreliable wind and solar could not help us out of our rolling blackouts today. No Wind, No Sun, No power. (Editor’s note: Probably didn’t help that we had three natural gas plants offline for no reason at the time. Also, the whole thing happened before sunrise. Weird that Alberta isn’t the only province with renewable energy but is the only province that can’t seem to keep the lights on.)

Tickled Pink

Amused that local homebuilders had so few new builds in our city the last few years, then boom, all of a sudden we have a housing shortage. Obviously building permits have only been issued for the old boys club, which only brings the most profit and not what the market actually needs.

Tickled Pink

The Tigers won one playoff game! That’s quite the strategy; maybe they will win TWO playoff games next year. (Editor’s note: Imagine being a Leafs fan.)

Ticked Off

Why is Coun. McGrogan publicly doubting whether Mayor Clark would accept the results of a judicial review? Is this proper conduct from a former chief of police?

Ticked Off

With the latest findings in the recall Gondek campaign in Calgary it seems the conservatives are trying to undermine municipal governments. It is disturbing because this could mean in the future some elections may not be honoured.

Ticked Off

China has 300-plus coal plants in the pipeline designed to last 40-plus years, but Canadians are forced to pay a carbon tax. How ridiculous.

Ticked Off

We are being told to reduce our AC electrical use on hot days, or lights and furnace on cold days to avoid overloading the electrical grid while simultaneously being told to trade in our cars for electric vehicles.

Ticked Off

Was Six years ago we had the terrible bus crash, the driver of the bus charged. But the bus driver in Manitoba killed more and never charged. He should have been charged as well.
