Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, March 5, 2024

Ticked Off

That I am being charged the Deferral Recovery Rate on my utility bills when I was NOT part of the Provincial Affordability Action Plan that the Government of Alberta passed in 2023. At the time when the bill was passed, I was on the Medicine Hat Fixed Rate, which was lower than the Provincial RRO and therefore I was not included in it. When I called Medicine Hat Utility customer service to enquire about the added monthly charge, I was told that everyone has to repay it and not to worry about it because the additional charge is not very much anyway. I am not sure what I am missing, but it just does not seem right to me.

Tickled Pink

That we have a premier who thinks rather than just let Ottawa trample us. Federal Dental Care and Pharmacare will end up dysfunctional like our Medicare. Feds should stay out of provincial areas. Why do people not complain about Quebec opting out?

Ticked Off

I am tired of socialist hacks attacking Danielle Smith for protecting Alberta by stopping the attempted takeover of areas of medical care that constitutionally belong to the provinces. Alberta would end up paying the most in these schemes. Sound familiar?

Ticked Off

For those who thought electing Danielle Smith as our MLA would be beneficial to Medicine Hat’s economic and social development, you must be eating crow today. Having the premier and another local MLA as members of Alberta’s governing party has done nothing to influence the allocation of funding in the most recent Alberta budget. Congratulations, you got suckered again.

Tickled Pink

That we are all accidental tourists on this beautiful, life-sustaining little blue planet. All else, such as national borders, genders, politics, religions, wars, tribes, allegiances, feuds, gains and losses are all mere arbitrary human constructions. Forget our relatively petty differences and live and let live in peace and harmony.

Ticked Off

The Freedom Convoy was misnamed. It couldn’t have been cheap to have the big party they had in downtown Ottawa. The free should be removed from freedom. The new name should just be, “The Dom Convoy.”

Tickled Pink

Gifford-Jones “a failing grade” March 1. Best. Advice. Ever. We cannot afford to fund all health care. There isn’t enough money. It is up to us to take care of ourselves. Preventative care.

Ticked Off

Kudos to the very few drivers in my condo parking lot who abide by the posted speed limit. The rest of you are dangerous drivers. Shame on you.

Ticked Off

That the recent shoutout to a “pretty young lady” was highlighted in this column. It’s 2024 and maybe young women are simply trying to exist without their appearance or demeanour being commented on. In the future, it would Tickle Me Pink if the paper didn’t act as a platform for this type of “compliment.”

Ticked Off

That the whole town is crawling with filthy and destructive deer. There’s no way I could justify building a new house here thanks to them. Rifles should have been brought out 10-plus years ago but city council is asleep at the wheel.

Ticked Off

So Chris Barber should sue Trudeau for ignoring his (Chris) terrorizing behaviour a few year back in Ottawa? You sir have lost your mind. So thankful that JT did not interact with that bunch of terrorists.

Tickled Pink

With the explanation of a chai tea latte. LOL, if I order a chai, the barista would ask what type of chai do you want, I would have to say tea latte, hot.

Tickled Pink

Thank you, Danielle Smith, for you and your cabinet’s work on the new budget. I certainly like the idea of the $200 tax for EV vehicles. Also I agree with your decision to opt out of the Liberal/NDP pharmacare. Only two areas are covered in this plan, diabetes and contraceptives. What about the other drugs that are required for illnesses? It was hastily put together only to keep the Liberals in power. Let the provinces make their own decisions on medication allowances. With your leadership, you are doing the best for our province.

Tickled Pink

The NDP led this province for only four years (1 premier) and did a good job. Any problems this province has can be attributed to the nine-plus conservative governments, and yet many people would like to blame problems on the NDP.

Tickled Pink

That Family Circus and Dennis the Menace are on the top of the comics page. Always funny and always relatable. They are tops with me!

Ticked Off

So we can drill for oil absolutely anywhere, but if I don’t want to struggle with crops in this drought stricken land the government won’t let me put up solar panels? So much for lack of interference, red tape and small government. This is the opposite of what the UCP ran on.

Ticked Off

To the person who wrote in that “Mainstream Media is the enemy of the people.” You sound like a Trumper. Move to the U.S.!

Tickled Pink

After hearing Trump’s latest speech a psychologist thinks he may have dementia. What do his supporters have? What is wrong with conservatives in this world?

Ticked Off

Who, in their right mind, would ever think that (a) wearing your pyjama bottoms out in public, or (b) wearing your hat backwards, looks good?
