Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Jan. 25, 2024

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on January 25, 2024.

Ticked Off

Absolutely at those loud air horns and darn cow bells that you think you have to cheer with. If I was sitting by you I would absolutely complain as well. Have some respect for the people around you who have ear issues.

Tickled Pink

I would be if the city would landscape Dunmore Road like they have done on 13th Avenue SE. It would save a lot of water and save on grass mowing. It would look great just as 13th Avenue looks great now.

Ticked Off

MLAs should forfeit their provincial pensions if they lobby in favour of oil and gas companies, and then get hired by the same or similar companies following their term in government. Why should Albertans give you money for your retirement if you favoured these companies during your time in office?

Ticked Off

In at least 22 places the God of the Old Testament committed, commanded or condoned genocide. The present day inhabitants of the Holy Land will not rest until they annihilate each other. The Bible tells them so.

Tickled Pink

That we are a fluke of the universe and we have the great privilege of sharing this rare and precious, life-sustaining space rock with everything from amoebas to mammals and even humans, sometimes.

Tickled Pink

Need to retract my Friday submission about snow covered mall sidewalks. They have now been scraped off properly. (Editor’s note: And in a perfect world, we would have read both emails on the same day and avoided this moment in time.)

Ticked Off

Hearing all the stories of people getting tickets for extension cords running over the sidewalk. People need to be able to plug in so they can get to work. Medicine Hat should change the bylaw to something similar to Grande Prairie, you can run it over the sidewalk if you take care to minimize the tripping hazard with something like an extension cord runner.

Tickled Pink

To have ‘the editor’s comments’ often! Makes my morning! Love the Medicine Hat News and hope to read it until I’m 90, at least. It provides some sanity in an often chaotic ride. Chug on!

Ticked Off

At the number of citizens I see and hear getting upset with frontline staff over situations that are completely out of their control. Be polite and simply ask to speak with a manager about your frustration. At the end of the day they aren’t the ones making the rules either, but at least your voice can be heard from someone and won’t hold up the line of people who don’t care and simply just want in and out of the business.

Tickled Pink

At the friendliness of the Wednesday Bridge players. It’s such a relaxed atmosphere where everyone wants to play well, but at the same time wants to help others improve their game.

Tickled Pink

At how many cafés feature local artists. We have such a tremendous amount of artistic talent here, it’s great to have them on display.

Tickled Pink

About Medicine Hat having our own electric. I see a lot of names and the city getting credit for it, but let’s get it right. A man named Bill Schott was the one who kept our power plant ours. He is gone but should be remembered for how he fought to keep it ours. Thank you in Heaven.

Ticked Off

By the commenter spreading misinformation about winter driving. According to them, people shouldn’t drive their cars in the cold weather because they might break down. Yeah, that’s not how vehicle degradation happens. Particularly if the vehicle was plugged in to a block heater, and after starting, was driven for at least 10 minutes at city speeds before hopping on the highway or parking it again.

Ticked Off

Those who constantly complain about carbon tax. Reality is it is here to stay. GST was implemented many years and it is still here, not one party has removed it.

Ticked Off

City is slow at change. They seem to drag their feet to make decisions.

Ticked Off

That everyone thinks the city should host the curling events. The old curling rink is just that, old. If they took a page out of a couple facilities around the smaller towns, they would have seen a curling rink and skating rink in the same facility, however, the local club wanted to be self supporting and now need handouts, which the city has now done.

Ticked Off

That people think artificial noise makers are better than loud cheering.

Ticked Off

Now kids don’t go to school and learn the a b c’s for better education, they learn h b-b v’s, so all of them can make millions in the pros! How about emphasizing the great education you can get in Canada (we’re 6th in the world) and not that if you go to a class or two you can play sports?

Ticked Off

My grandson told me his coach told them not to shake the ref’s hand after the game cause he was no good! Now he knows that if things don’t go his way, it wasn’t his fault, and someone else is to blame! What is wrong with these coaches?

Ticked Off

That Judge Mosley can dictate the government’s choice of using the Emergencies Act two years ago. This act was necessary to diffuse the unbelievable disregard the convoy showed the residents in Ontario. Blockades that cause a danger to others should absolutely be broken up. The dudes at the Coutts border with explosives are a good example of the intent of these convoys.

Tickled Pink

It’s been so cold recently I noticed even the cool teenagers at the mall are pulling their pants up. (Editor’s note: Hahaha, or whatever it is teenagers are doing 25 years after this joke would have been relevant.)

Ticked Off

Yawn, it is the same handful of card carrying NDP supporters that write into this section day after day to whine about the most petty things. We know their names because we know their writing styles, we have seen them for years now in the letters section. They seem unaware, without common sense and without lives.

Ticked Off

Yes, you are right, the city now owns the curling rink. Renovating will not be the answer. This city needs a new modern, larger curling rink in order to attract the big bonspiels and redevelop an interest in attaining more interested curlers. Just as important as the Co-op Place, which was a total waste of money, being built there. It is for obvious reasons underused, should have been in the downtown area, in the middle of the city. Redcliff must be happy!

Ticked Off

At Glen Motz and his support of the truckers who blockaded Ottawa. Can I write in my vote for Daffy Duck if he runs for our representative for the Medicine Hat riding? I feel Daffy could do a better job.

Ticked Off

Medicine Hat woman’s shelter does a wonderful job I am sure. It is disappointing that there is a big demand for their services. What is wrong with men who beat their wives and children? Penalties for these people should be increased. We need increased support for the women and increased penalties for the perpetrators.

Tickled Pink

To be a Canadian but embarrassed to be an Albertan.

Ticked Off

Daycare operators have got it right, $10 a day daycare is ridiculous in this day and age. Fight the insurance and food giants who have the deep pockets.

Ticked Off

That this leftist news paper continues to bash our primer Danielle Smith. She is working hard for every Albertan. It would be nice to see more opinions from the right conservative people. I have written in May times and I never see it. WHY. (Editor’s note: General lack of coherency?)
