Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Jan. 11, 2024

Ticked Off

The Veiner Centre does a terrible job of cleaning the parking lot. Shouldn’t seniors be able to get out of their vehicle without the fear of falling on the ice? Sidewalks and driveways are cleared, but how are you supposed to safely manoeuvre from your car to the sidewalk when the parking spots and ramps are icy?

Ticked Off

Trains carrying hazardous materials still go through Medicine Hat each day. Railways are required to transport all legal commodities (Common Carrier Act of 1883). Hazardous materials are legal commodities. The city should ban all new construction within one kilometre of the rail line.

Ticked Off

I can’t find a good hotdog with sauerkraut and grilled onions in Medicine Hat. (Editor’s note: We endorse this message.)

Tickled Pink

With Randy Feere singing the national anthems at the Medicine Hat Tiger hockey games. Better than all the NHL anthem singers!

Ticked Off

At a recent Facebook comment about how our uncommonly warm December was caused by an El Niño, and not global warming, which they believe is a hoax. They even had the gall to say, “look it up!!” OK, well, I looked it up, and all the results show studies and research that say El Niños are becoming more frequent and extreme as a direct result of human-caused global warming from greenhouse gas emissions. Crazy how that works, huh?

Tickled Pink

If you think this past fall weather was “weird” or strangely unusual, you must not have been around more than 10 years. Rarely were any past records even threatened to be broken and I have lived this multiple times before and loved it! This is not the end of the world as we know it.

Ticked Off

ERs across the country are filled with people suffering from COVID and influenza – both vaccine preventable. Yet vaccination rates remain extremely low. Wow.

Tickled Pink

That my wife and I are equally happy running around town doing errands together as we are having a pyjama day at home.

Ticked Off

That same idiot shooting off fireworks in Southridge at 3 a.m. is probably the same moron that drove his pickup in the park ripping up the grass and destroying sprinkler heads. (Editor’s note: Maybe we should at least entertain the idea that there are, in fact, at least two idiots.)

Tickled Pink

In response to Tuesday’s concern for making snow in the mountains. This snow will still melt and become runoff to fill our streams, no?

Ticked Off

I wish those “one-trick ponies” who only do spin shots in pickleball would develop some other skills. You are not that hot!

Tickled Pink

Yahoo! Winter has arrived! I feel like the universe is righting itself. Next, snowmen, snowshoes and snow angels!

Ticked Off

UCP Danielle Smith continues to lobby for her former employers. The gas and oil well tax issue will benefit her former employers and the taxes will substantially increase for county residents to make up the lost revenue. I’m sure she appreciated your vote last election.

Tickled Pink

Wouldn’t it be great if all of you crying out for the Memorial Cup to come to this city would step up and volunteer? The Memorial Cup is a very expensive venture. It would take a lot of dollars and volunteers to make this happen. (Editor’s note: Considering this city’s volunteer history and reputation when hosting large events, we think people here would step up in droves.)

Tickled Pink

While watching the Weather Network I learned a few tips to help me with clearing my windshield of ice in the morning with a simple spray bottle full of three parts rubbing alcohol to one part water. Spray and go, good advice.

Ticked Off

At a comment in Tuesday’s TOTP that compared our warm 2023 December to another warm December in 1958, seeming to suggest that global warming isn’t a concern. Let me remind you that 2023 was the hottest year ever recorded by humans, period. And the next 10 hottest years ever recorded have all occurred since 2010. El Niños cause warm winters, yes, and global warming causes more frequent and more severe El Niños. A study in 2021 concluded that more than 99% of scientific papers agree on the human cause of climate change. There is no debate.

Tickled Pink

Sometimes you have to think before posting. All the water used for snowmaking at ski hills goes right back into the watershed it came from when it melts. It’s the original recycling.

Tickled Pink

Our premier is smart enough not to fall for the all the lies promulgated by the woke. They will soon see the error of their ways. (Editor’s note: Long live the asleep, hey?)

Ticked Off

That our local TV broadcaster never mentioned anything about the two Tigers games from the weekend where they handily defeated the Tri-City Americans and Spokane Chiefs. Thankfully the Medicine Hat News had some great coverage of the games.

Tickled Pink

To the nice lady who bought me a cherry blossom chocolate because she thought my husband only bought one for himself. In fact he did buy one for me, so I will enjoy them both. We were both touched by your kindness. It’s those little things that can make one’s day. Kindness never goes out of style.

Ticked Off

What a disgusting, unsportsmanlike, idiot, no-class, disrespectful display by the American junior hockey team at the world junior tournament in Sweden. Hopefully there is a way for them not to be invited to this tournament in the future. No place in this tournament for that kind of behaviour. They may have won the gold medal but they are losers to me.

Tickled Pink

With the commercials made locally that are shown during the news! It makes watching the CHAT news, (mostly Global reports) bearable. They are our version of Super Bowl commercials. From the late gentleman who finally got his wife’s compression socks, to the man who’d rather have fries than exercise!
