Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Nov. 2, 2023

Ticked Off

Mother Teresa school zone has a student-manned crosswalk, why do parents and students not choose the safe way to cross, and jaywalk crossing the road all through the zone? It has to be addressed by the school safety personnel.

Tickled Pink

To know who has more photos ops? Flying all over Canada in a party jet? Puts our working PM to shame. Spend on party ads NOT with his personal money? Spreading fake news? Just trying to convince gullible taxpayers you are the candidate to represent Canada. Think not. Too much of a big sarcastic, degrading boy.

Tickled Pink

If the News would let Medicine Hat residents know if all the submissions come from the same person. They all sound the same… Angry or passive aggressive. (Editor’s note: Roughly nine of 10 submissions are anonymous, so it’s hard to say. But safe to guess a few send more than others.)

Tickled Pink

Did you know some manufacturers are customizing vehicles with NO signal lights? …

Tickled Pink

To the wonderful transition of the Veiner Centre under new management. Awesome job!

Ticked Off

Alberta is dreaming if they think CCP will give them any money at all. I did not contribute to an Alberta pension fund. If Alberta wants their own pension they must start from scratch.

Ticked Off

What percentage of residents have a card at Medicine Hat Public Library? Do the citizens want a public library? If they do, are they willing to pay for a card? The present library is simply in the wrong location to be widely used.

Tickled Pink

Fantastic job on the play The Full Monty! Such good laughs and acting. So brave! Steve wore his tiny undies well.

Tickled PSA

To those who constantly bottom out at 19th Street entrance to Beaumont apartments. There is a better entrance off 15th Avenue at 21st Street.

Tickled Pink

With our mayor, city council, city manager and directors. Thank you for all you do. You are all human and doing the best you can. You can’t make a population of 63,000 all happy, Ignore the hate and continue to make this a great city!

Ticked (and confused)

I do not believe in Jesus and have no plan to change. Tell me objectively exactly what is wrong with being an atheist or someone who worships a deity other than yours. What about the 2 billion-plus Muslims on this planet?

Tickled Pink

With aqua-size leaders at the Crestwood Pool. They are outstanding and make exercising fun. The staff at Crestwood are always very friendly and helpful.

Ticked Off

Why is Smith trying to fix something that isn’t broken? CPP isn’t broken, we get 100% of the cost of living adjustment. Smith could offer Albertans utilities rebates, lower gas at the pumps, what about grocery rebates for not just lower incomes? What about looking at increasing lab collections in Medicine Hat? Living in Redcliff and having to go to Carry Drive is ridiculous. Lots of currently broken systems to repair first.

Ticked Off

The great pumpkin smash is a terrible idea. It encourages children to waste good food.

Ticked Off

It’s unfortunate Westerners keep spouting off Westerners versus the East. Easterners need help to get off the expensive oil-burning heaters. No matter which federal/provincial party is in, they poke the bear of favouritism.

Ticked Off

With the atrocious manners of some young people in restaurants. Many are not only loud, but also vulgar. The noise from their tables overwhelms the rest of the patrons. Many of the young men do not remove their hats/baseball caps while indoors. They appear to have no consideration for the other diners; they should be ashamed – and so should their parents.

Ticked Off

Nowhere in the pension survey is a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to leaving CPP. Let’s get real, Ms. Smith. Stop wasting public taxpayers’ money and offer a real survey.

Ticked Off

That 51% of Alberta’s population of 4.37 million can jeopardize the pensions of the population of the entire country of 40 million.

Tickled Pink

If 10 per cent of the land at CFB Suffield, about 250 square kilometres, was converted to a vast solar collection site. Let the federal and provincial governments put up the money and collect the revenue generated to pay off the costs incurred. No one would see it and we would never need to worry about our lights going out. Plus the land could still be used for grazing animals.

Tickled Pink

That Rochelle Pancoast is the smartest person in any room. Those who are attempting to publicly discredit her are going to be very sorry when she gets fed up and leaves. Any replacement would be mediocre (at best) in comparison. Plus, she has the integrity to stand up and admit mistakes. (Mistakes aren’t lies, btw.)

Tickled Pink

That we will have a referendum on the proposed Alberta Pension Plan. It will give us all a chance to blot out yet another stupid, intrusive and unnecessary UCP manoeuvre. Remember when you vote, it is not Alberta’s money. It’s your money.

Tickled Pink

If the UCP succeeds in stealing the pension funds I’ve paid into the CPP for 40 years, that I will be able to opt out of the APP and take my money to B.C.

Ticked Off

I was born and raised in Medicine Hat and it used to be fun to mention where I came from when living and travelling elsewhere in Canada and other countries. Now because of Danielle Smith, Tamara Lich and others, it is embarrassing. Time to move?

Tickled Pink

That a nonsense verse exists to tickle our brains in these trying times, such as: “If you’re paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many pancakes fit in a doghouse? None! Because ice cream doesn’t have bones. Then, again, maybe I just don’t get it.

Ticked Off

Whomever thinks democracy has only existed for 200 years should probably pick up a history book, or go back to school. Hate to break it to you, but it’s been around millennia before the founding of Canada or the U.S.

Ticked Off

At the idiot who used his truck at 3 a.m. to rip our freshly sodded grass in Southridge Community Park. Tearing up, destroying two months of hard work by Grassroots. Did you have fun? Our tax dollars paid for that and now thanks to you, we’ll pay again for the repairs.

Ticked Off

If taxpayers are paying for the recent ridiculous power grid propaganda ads on TV.

Ticked Off

If anyone has doubts about the possibility of an APP, just take a look how Trudeau tried to buy votes in Atlantic Canada with a break on home heating oil while giving the finger to the rest of the country. Fellow Albertans, do you still not realize the deck is stacked against you?

Ticked Off

At the editors of this forum for printing inane comments like “Rachel Notley thinks she is always right but is always wrong.” No explanation about what they are talking about. It is like saying nothing. Why bother printing the statement? (Editor’s note: If it said nothing, then why are you bothered by it? If someone says something blatantly false that’s one thing, but people are allowed to think politicians are wrong about stuff. And you’re allowed to think they’re being silly.)

Tickled Pink

I would like names posted with their comments. That way foolish and uninformed have not done their homework or know the facts they can answer to friends and coworkers, etc. to get some help. (Editor’s note: OK, but that’s Facebook, and maybe you didn’t notice, but not a ton of disagreements are getting solved on there.)

Ticked Off

The “fake” pension poll. It assumes your (sic) in agreement with it. No yes/no question to answer if we even want it. Come on, get a real poll out. This poll shows just how “tricky” our premier is. (Editor’s note: We ran the “do you even want it poll” long before that one. Sorry you weren’t online at the time, lots of people voted.)

Ticked Off

I cannot imagine anyone wanting to turn over their pension plan to the Alberta government after seeing the mess it has made of the Alberta Heritage Trust Fund.
