Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Oct. 26, 2023

Tickled Pink

That democracies only have a history of lasting about 200 years. They all end the same way, by swinging to far to the left. Societies that do not live by principle implode. Those people that do not think Alberta should separate may not, one day have a choice. Alberta would be far better off as a republic anyhow, you guy’s just lack foresight because you are blinded followers.

Ticked Off

When I donate to local charities I will be asking how much is used for the needy and not to pay for operational expenses. I’m hearing a recent sum of $55,000 raised for the client to benefit was used up. Come on, who’s running this show? Too many paid staff and the volunteers see the shambles and have disassociated themselves. Ultimately the board of directors signed up to do a job, so do the right thing.

Ticked Off

Please empty the plastic bags of garbage directly into the black bin. Don’t add that plastic bag to the landfill, use it again. The same goes for your bags of leaves. Empty them into the green bin and reuse the bag. Please!

Tickled Pink

That the “Our Medicine Hat” website has compiled a list of businesses that I will no longer support. To them it’s a list of places to sign ridiculous petitions, but to me, it’s a list of businesses adding to the division of our city.

Ticked Off

Alberta blames federal government for the utilities costs. If that was the case, why do my relatives in Ontario pay less than Alberta? Why is the vehicle gas less than Alberta as well? Something doesn’t add up, Alberta government.

Ticked Off

That Nicole Frey thinks she is important enough that the NDP would launch a secret email campaign to create fake/ anonymous Facebook profiles to discredit her. You, Ms. Frey, are just not that important. Perhaps it’s that anyone’s name can be googled, revealing their digital footprint. And these bonuses you rant about, they are not a secret and are public record.

Tickled Pink

I 100% support the right to self determination in all matters. The line between sex and gender appears often blurred to me. I know it is not my business, but I would like to understand.

Ticked Off

At Roland Weisbrot “By the Way: Blessed are the peacemakers”, the News, Oct. 21. Beliefs in man-made, mythical “Gods” is a primary cause of violence across the globe, not a solution. Senseless brutality and destruction are caused by warring religions. We should have learned hundreds of years ago from the Crusades. Imagine.

Ticked Off

At those who do not believe in Jesus. Open your eyes to the truth. You are being led down a path of destruction believing things going on today in our world is normal. It is far from normal.

Ticked Off

I know the city council is very busy with the utility problems in the city, but instead of worrying so much about the impact the deer are having on our city, take a look at all the reports of aggressive and very dangerous coyotes running rampant in broad daylight, snatching pets in people’s yards and showing no fear of humans. When will this be important enough to take action?

Ticked Off

At all the people not educating themselves about the CPP. It is not run by the government, but by a separate panel of persons all together. Keep Danielle Smith away from our CPP fund, thank you very much.

Ticked Off

Premier criticizing prime minister on his letter to Alberta taxpayers on the behalf of all Canadians. Not everyone kisses your butt whenever fake news releases from your mouth.

Tickled Pink

So glad there was a picture about our men’s seniors slow pitch team in the paper. Your hard work paid off. To all the players in the past, thanks.

Tickled Pink

With those who fact check and realize our utility rates are still better in Medicine Hat than what other Alberta residents are paying. Don’t let Nicole Frey’s misinformation lead you to lose your Medicine Hat values of being thankful and hardworking. We can’t blame the city for inflation and volatility of markets. But we can be positive and caring to our neighbours. Let’s choose love and kindness over misguided blame and anger.

Tickled Pink

With my tattoos by local artists. I love them! Very well done, and the colours have held up for more than 17 years. I get compliments all the time. Thanks, Olie and Jen!

Tickled Pink

That charges against Tamara Lich for bail infringement were dropped. Meanwhile, she spent another month in jail while real criminals are out back on the streets in minutes. But don’t become a political prisoner, or you’re hooped.

Ticked Off

Tamara Lich in her book refers to herself as a political prisoner. Give me a break and give your head a shake.

Ticked Off

That Shaw Direct is manipulating the signal to snowbirds south of the border. It seems that for no good reason Shaw no longer wants elderly folks watching good ole Canadian sports or late night news. I am certainly going to miss cheering for my favourite team during the Grey Cup, and most certainly watching the sport of curling.

Tickled Pink

I will be enjoying the World Series even more now that the Rangers have moved on and beaten the cheaters. People don’t forget about that, just like 1919 when the Black Sox threw the game. It took a few years until a guy by the name of Babe Ruth came along to bring back their trust in baseball.

Tickled Pink

With all the town halls our city councillors and mayor are doing. It is nice to see how much time they are taking to hear and listen to citizens. They clearly care. These events of discussion and listening are way more productive than angry comments on social media. We are a community that works to understand each other’s perspectives and cares about each other, even if we have different opinions. Nicole Frey, please try Medicine Hat’s ways of communication, not your angry comments on social media.

Ticked Off

Seems like all the News can print in this wretched column are those against an Alberta Pension Plan. Funny, myself, and those I talk to think it’s a great idea, just not the few readers of this publication I suppose. (Editor’s note: The News doesn’t control who writes in and what they support. We have zero issue printing comments supporting the idea of an Alberta Pension Plan. There just aren’t many coming. Perhaps your friends will write in as well.)

Tickled Pink

Super happy to see all the safe drivers this morning. Winter driving can be frustrating but it’s nice to see everyone slowing down a bit and leaving extra space between vehicles. Drive safe, everyone.

Ticked Off

That Pierre Poilievre is siding with a foreign government against Canadian intelligence services, essentially condoning the murder of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. I don’t like Justin Trudeau as much as the next person, but come on, man, at least stand behind your country.

Tickled Pink

If the good folks out there would not blame the Medicine Hat News for UCP ads paid for by Alberta’s taxpayers. Contact Justin Wright, MLA, or the Brooks/Medicine Hat MLA and now premier of Alberta, Daniel Smith.

Ticked Off

I would like a refund of my tax dollars our UPC government is using to buy advertising in papers billboards, and TV ads to promote their personal agenda. And then there is the war room another expense which is a complete waste of my tax money. If my tax dollars were used instead to improve education or health care not a problem.

Tickled Pink

That the MH News is now including so many local activities relating to ongoing initiatives in the community. So good to hear about the programs in local school boards and other local communities. As a result I have now become involved in another community volunteer initiative. Thanks for committing to local news.

Tickled Pink

On this issue of political advertising in the media, precedence was established several years ago. The newly elected NDP premier of Alberta in 2015 together with the federal government of the day spent ludicrous sums of money advertising something called the carbon levy. This was not only done in print but on radio and TV as well.
