Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Oct. 19, 2023

Ticked Off

It is our government’s job to implement rules that benefit its citizens. Not having rules to control rents and utilities prices is shirking responsibility. Less government may be an ideal but no government is not the answer.

Ticked Off

That with Bill C-69 being squashed our premier can pollute our country without any federal regulations to protect our environment. Bringing back coal exploration and building more gas-fired power plants instead of supporting wind and solar enterprises is not a plan for the future. (Editor’s note: Contrary to the talking points of the province, the Supreme Court offered an advisory decision this week. It did not squash anything.)

Ticked Off

I agree with the other ticked off, you do seem very selective in the “news” you report. An hour up the road QAnon has set up (Richmound”) nothing, ol’ CBC covered it though. (Editor’s note: The News reported on this before any other local media and has followed up multiple times since. We apologize if you’ve become selective in what you read.)

Ticked Off

I couldn’t think of anything less original than looking at the same “body art” everyday for the rest of my life. I’ll keep my blank canvas thank you very much.

Ticked Off

With months to prepare for the Flu and COVID season, the government has managed to get only two pharmacies in Medicine Hat into the booking system. In B.C., they have already vaccinated over 100,000 people, we’ve not started. Get ready for the hospitals to fill up.

Ticked Off

At the UCP about the Alberta pension plan. I hope people will reject it. You just look at the Alberta rainy day fund, the average Albertan has not seen any benefit from it, and the proposed pension plan will do the same. People who want to separate should leave Alberta as soon as possible.

Ticked Off

That someone would stoop to swiping the arm off the 12-foot skeleton I just purchased and erected for Halloween season. However, I’d be Tickled Pink if they grew up and returned it. It would help to restore my faith in humanity.

Tickled Pink

Alberta makes up for 25% of CPP assets. Tell me how Albertans would not be better off with separate pension plan.

Ticked Off

That our tax dollars are being used to complete ridiculous FOIP requests that are the driving force behind the recall petition that group keeps submitting. Find a hobby or perhaps a new city to call home, you clearly don’t like our amazing city.

Tickled Pink

That Mayor Clark is so composed even in the face of a shamefully inept city manager and an asleep at the wheel council – not to mention the drama on social media and by certain former mayors who don’t even live in our city. Keep up the great work, Mayor Clark! You have so much support in this community. Though we are not the ones spending all our free time on social media or necessarily the loudest, we are many and we fully support you.

Ticked Off

The bylaw for unsightly yards and multiple trailers in front yard spectrum is the whole city. It’s very selfish on the part of the culprits doing this. Put your trailers in storage or backyard or move to the country.

Ticked Off

That people on the left side think you can just add a tax. Which will make prices go down. Just to let you know. The end user always pays for increases.

Ticked Off

To the wife and mother in law telling people how much they hated the wife’s decreased husband that recently passed away. Also not being honest about his belongings and money he had. Shame on you.

Ticked Off

Someone moves here, lives here for five minutes, and then thinks they know best about our city, and decides they are going to remove our mayor. Who the citizens voted for. If you’re so supported, put your name on the ballot next time.

Ticked Off

Canada needs Poilievre cage ideology to stop saying our country is broken. We are not broken, just conservatives are broken.

Ticked Off

How in the world does it make sense for Nicole Frey to want to recall the mayor, when it was the mayor who voted in favour of reviewing utility rates? She is not someone to ally with. This behaviour is only negative, not rational and the complete opposite of problem solving.

Tickled Pink

By the Ronald McDonald House. Fortunately I have never had to use it and hope I never have to, but it is wonderful to have it for those who need it. I am also tickled pink by all those who volunteer to keep it going. Good job.

Ticked Off

I am disappointed that a local friendship centre allows employees and clients to engage in relationships. Very uncomfortable to be around.

Ticked Off

At people who think solar energy is environmental friendly and sustainable. Those panels have to be replaced after five or so years and can not be recycled. Solar energy can also not even come close to sustaining the power grid, it is waste of taxpayers’ money.

Ticked Off

So, Premier Smith says she misspoke about the numbers that attended the town hall meetings (300,000 to 3,000) She must be using the same mathematical formula when rolling out the information about opting out of the CPP.

Ticked Off

Really tired of that little weasel coming and getting information with the purpose of boosting her career. Take a hike. You of all people should know to not ruin other people’s careers. Friends. Professional. You do not know the meaning. Stay away from me.

Ticked Off

By those who think bringing the previous mayor back would be beneficial. If memory serves me correctly he wanted to sell the electrical utility which provides tens of millions of dollars to the city, and I believe he also wanted to close almost every recreation facility south of the river and move everything to the Box Springs Business Park.

Ticked Off

Is it possible the premier prefers telephone consults because anything on paper or online would provide hard copies results? (Editor’s note: Sure, but it’s just as possible that what she says is true, which is phone calls allow for more people to be reached. As long as the province lives up to its promise of a referendum, Albertans will have their say on pensions.)

Ticked Off

Totally agree with the people who are ticked off about the interview the former mayor had on local TV. His interview was totally sour grapes on his part. Shame on him.

Ticked Off

I think it’s a conflict of interest that Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has ties to Ukraine and she is in charge of giving millions of Canadian dollars to that country.

Ticked Off

We don’t need Ted back, signed up to spend more taxpayer bucks on big building projects we simply can not afford. The old-boy network has us in this hole to begin with.

Ticked Off

This Medicine Hat News is not allowing the page readers to get information by censoring out questions. Non-profit organizations in this city need to publish their financial statements and show how much of donations is eaten in operations costs, staffing, rent, mortgage, utility, transports, cellphones and how much is actually used for the needy. If a board of directors decides that the public don’t need to know they are a huge part of something fishy.

Ticked Off

We may be about to lose our pensions just because some folks feel the need to vote for a party that lets greedy-thinking separatists steer the ship. So far you’ve got higher insurance rates, rents, tuition, utilities, worse health care, an exodus of doctors, bungled energy deals, and now you want to play roulette with your pension too? When will we learn?

Ticked Off

How can the feds force the grocery stores to reduce prices? How can that happen in a democracy? And to then threaten to tax them more? That will only drive up prices higher. It’s their policies that are creating inflation. (Editor’s note: Inflation is literally the measure of rising prices. Just in case there was confusion.)
