Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Oct. 12, 2023

Ticked Off

Jaywalking is illegal in this city. You can be ticketed if caught and if you get hit, guess what? You are at fault and will be charged, and responsible for the damage you make to the vehicle you ran/walked into. I speak from experience.

Tickled Pink

Here’s a tip to those who are not enjoying their rent/utility increase. Next time don’t vote PC.

Tickled Pink

At the local company that bought an apartment building, doubled rent to $1,700, then displaced long-term tenants. Enjoy your empty suites, even your own employees can’t afford to live in them.

Ticked Off

It’s time for people to realize that Quebec has always had its own pension plan, as well as many other sovereignty perks, and has got along just fine. We’re just trying to get equal treatment.

Ticked Off

I did not realize or don’t remember that there is a $50 charge for a green bin until a recent Ticked Off submission brought it up. Why discourage people from recycling yard waste by charging for the container? That should be discontinued. Yard waste adds to the landfill, which is not good. It also is composted, which the city uses and sells.

Tickled Pink

To the editor’s comments… keep up the great work. Holding people accountable for their actions/responses is not an easy job. We can all have our opinion, but let’s be respectful.

Tickled Pink

Disgusted with the UCP spending taxpayers’ money for a recent full-page ad regarding the party’s wish to leave CPP in favour of a provincial plan. Also, they are still spending our money to fund the “war room” (searching for ads against our oil). More waste.

Ticked Off

If the month of December electricity rates were extra low so Hatters can light up and not break their pocket books, to show off their houses/lawns/decks with Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas, City Hall.

Ticked Off

That’s just it. I do love you but hate what you are doing to your body. Putting ink under your skin with a needle isn’t an Einstein theory I’m sure. And then arguably calling it a beautiful form of art? Please.

Ticked Off

It would be so nice if the MHPS would put a ghost car or speed trap between Home Depot and 13th Avenue on Strachan Road. It is a speed issue with people going 70 to 80 km/h all day and night, it’s like the speed way. It’s not on any particular day, it’s every day, 8 a.m. to midnight. I must say it’s not everyone, but about 50% of the people.

Ticked Off

That dog owners cannot control their barking dogs. Constantly calling them by their name is an infantile method. They don’t listen. Please take them inside and respect your neighbours’ right to some peace.

Ticked Off

At people turning right off the highway onto Bullivant Crescent. When the light red you still have to come to a full stop, then can proceed when safe. So many drivers don’t stop and interrupt flow of traffic because they think they have the right of way. MHPS could make a fortune monitoring this intersection.

Ticked Off

Everyone loves to blame the government, but one of the main drivers of the housing affordability crisis is people using real estate as a financial cash cow. People who “flip” houses, people who buy multiple properties to just rent them out, people who buy completely empty houses and do nothing except wait for them to appreciate. Housing is a basic human right and those grossly profiteering off it are part of the problem. What the government should do is put laws in place to curb predatory housing practices.

Tickled Pink

I would be if City Hall or even News would publish annual usage numbers and cost per user of the various venues around town, such as Big Marble Go, the Esplanade, public library and Stampede grounds.

Tickled Pink

With an autobody shop on the north side. Dents completely gone – best job ever – truck never shone like that even when new!

Ticked Off

I think it was very disingenuous of the former mayor to criticize the current utility situation when he helped implement policies that led to the mess we have. He was also criticizing no capital projects. What was left after he replaced almost every city building even ones that didn’t need to be replaced? He criticized no new businesses coming. What did he bring? Aurora, at a cost of $6-7 million dollars and no operating business. He also criticized tax increases and, once again, his council implemented them to cover deficits created by the mess they created in the utility department.
