Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Oct. 10, 2023

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on October 10, 2023.

Editor’s note: Before starting the section this week the News would like to apologize to those of our readers who were offended by certain language used in response to a Ticked Off submission last week. The poor choice of words took away from an important point, and that is regrettable.

The News does however, stand by the point being made, which is bigotry and hate are a problem in our society and this newspaper will not tolerate any of it. This paper is an ally to the Indigenous and LGBTQ2S+ communities and will always strive to be a voice to advocate for them, not diminish.

Ticked Off

At the group known as Take Alberta Back. Who do they want to take Alberta back from? The people of Alberta? No one stole this province and the NDP did not make it worse. What is the problem? The problem is the people behind this group. For some reason they think there is some big problem.

Tickled Pink

“Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world.” Bill Bullard, you nailed it.

Tickled Pink

I agree with other commenters. Tattoos are disgusting and hideous. I’m glad more people will be covering up over winter.

Ticked Off

Complaining re: tattoos. I am just wondering why there is such hate toward people with tattoos? It is a beautiful form of art. This world is facing much bigger problems to worry about what a person does to their body. Love, don’t hate.

Ticked Off

Medicine Hat wants me to buy a green bin to dispose of my yard waste, so I don’t. I throw away my waste in the garbage bin.

Ticked Off

Consequences of emergency wait times is people leaving before seeing a doctor. Our politicians need to fulfil their obligation to Albertans. Quit wasting money from privatization to AHS and do your job.

Ticked Off

Albertan taxpayers are paying 70% on Calgary’s new arena project.

Ticked Off

There are hard topics of discussion, that’s not to say they are to be avoided. If what this medium is suggesting that the cloak of anonymity is a cowardly way out, maybe this column should end as obviously a nerve has been hit.

Ticked Off

At the blatantly inappropriate use of power by the Smith regime in spewing propaganda with full-page ads over CPP recently and now energy in the News. How insulting.

Tickled Pink

Loved the Friday paper. The first half started with a full two-page advertisement from our government creating fear over a net-zero grid, while on the back page of the same half a headline read, “An excess of stupidity is still the problem.” Couldn’t have summarized it better.

Tickled Pink

If people would think of others and not themselves. Get vaccinated.

Tickled Pink

Finally, it looks like city council will take steps to deal with owners of dilapidated buildings. First one they should look at is the decrepit Assiniboia Inn. It’s long overdue for the wrecking ball.

Ticked Off

It is unfortunate that Jason Kenney united the right and then left and let the WILDrose faction run the party. Alberta is now worse off than ever.

Ticked Off

If the UCP was concentrating on properly regulating food services and enforcing the rules instead of cutting funding, maybe our children wouldn’t be suffering from E. coli poisoning.

Ticked Off

Good thing we have a government that cuts red tape and puts many young children’s lives in jeopardy at daycare.

Tickled Pink

What a wonderful anniversary present from my wife of 45 years. A new leaf blower. All my leaves will now be on my neighbour’s lawn.

Ticked Off

Can anyone explain why politicians in Alberta are having us pay three times more for utilities then any other province in Canada?

Tickled Pink

At the occasional editor’s comment in this section. Sometimes it provides clarity, other times, a chuckle, and also calling out misrepresentations. It’s a terrific added feature, and we enjoy it very much!

Ticked Off

You know something is up when all of the left-wing media is in sync with their cheerleading for war. The thought of peace is repugnant to the liberal elites.

Tickled Pink

That Medicine Hat police are still normal, and haven’t turned insane like Calgary police.
