Ticked Off What a fiasco at the man van. Poor organization for such a critical test for men. You would think a hotel would sponsor this event so they could accommodate 50 men in their lobby so they wouldn’t have to stand out in the rain. Ticked Off The city can’t decide how to set the electricity price – either retail along with the two other major players, or wholesalers the third parties who actually post competitive rates. All this time they claimed to be aligned with competitive rates. What a lie! If this isn’t collusion on the highest levels then I don’t know what is. Tickled Pink If the UCP can promise higher pensions when I retire, and bigger paycheques now, just by getting us out of the existing CPP, I’ll be thrilled if they start by slashing the Alberta Provincial Tax when I go to calculate my taxes next April. That will help ensure I have more money when I retire. Tickled Pink If our premier would tell local taxpayers how many employees/wages were cut to afford a parking lot full of white Toyota Dynalife vans that run back and forth daily to Calgary or Edmonton. Ticked Off I would like the government to close every liquor store and pot shop in Canada. The police in this city have used this toward their advantage to line their pockets and the government’s. They sell it to you and then nail you for it. Why don’t the cops focus on all the people stealing from the good people? The police force in this city is the joke of the century. Ticked Off Wow, in regards to the COVID uptick. We now have a Health Ministry making decisions based on politics and not health. How irresponsible. Ticked Off That the Alberta Energy Regulator and Imperial Oil only decided to notify the public of the leakage from the Kearl oilsands mine years after it was too late to protect the community. Millions of litres of contaminated water escaped. This is how they handled it “internally.” Ticked Off Does anyone know if the Chamber of Commerce still exists? No intervention with utility rates, totally quiet about homelessness in downtown, absolutely quiet. Guess there isn’t anything happening in the city they need to concern themselves with. Ticked Off City Hall takes every single stat it seems it can. Truth and Reconciliation day was Saturday. Province of Alberta staff did not receive Monday as a stat in lieu but the city did. Seems the city likes to pay employee stat holidays pay. Ticked Off Dealing with City Hall is painful. I think they still have the attitude they can do their job from home. Maybe should privatize then would be more helpful. Tickled Pink With the colouring drawings included in the News. Plus, nice variety in details. Ticked Off That the ‘freedom lovers’ are now taking the front of the UCP party, not just the back rooms. What everyone needs to realize is rules are rules no matter who sets them. So unless you want to move to a non country. Don’t make me get a passport to visit family in Saskatchewan. Ticked Off At people who think Alberta is incapable of surviving without Canada. We do most of our trade with America, not Canada. It is Canada that will suffer not us. But you all continue to consume your info from biased sources like good sheeple, ignorance is bliss. Ticked Off Here we go again with the dumb trades. The Tigers will be back in the basement by November. Ticked Off I find it laughable that someone called Notley and the NDP misfits. Surely Danielle Smith’s track record as a politician and what she has said on the radio show, that she is the misfit. I long for some sanity from her government. Ticked Off The Take Back Alberta group is a scary group that has the ear of Danielle Smith. They have a website that wants you to sign a petition to stop Notley stating that her policies would ruin Alberta, but of course they don’t say what those policies are. We should be afraid of this organization. Tickled Pink To the young woman at the Desert Blume greenhouse who paid for my veggies at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct 3, thank you! That was so generous and kind of you. You must be a big ray of sunshine and joy to all who know you. May you have a happy and blessed October! Ticked Off Alberta Pension Plan, you may get more in the start by what Alberta government is trying to convince us. But, if it is like other Alberta pensions it is based on Alberta consumer index at 60%, versus CPP you get 100% of consumer index. How long before the APP gets you less than CPP? Something to seriously consider when thinking about. Ticked Off To the NDP and Liberal whiners of the Ticked Off, Tickled Pink. Stop with the complaining about everything the UCP does. We are better off with them. Notley would have completely destroyed Alberta more than she did last time she was in. We’ve had eight years of Liberal government in the federal. What have we to show for it? Tickled Pink I find it so amusing how many condo boards still try to enact illegal age restrictions on their dwellings. People are quick to forget about the young single mother who won the case against the condo board or property management group who tried to keep her and her kids out of the building. Pretty sure it was a discrimination suit? Anyways I look forward to seeing more of these cases won. Ticked Off Maybe our fancy politicians should give up their family doctors for a year so they too can experience second- or third-rate health care. They should experience long ER and walk-in clinic waits. That way they can feel the fear of not getting a diagnosis when it’s a serious health concern. Ticked Off Just bizarre. The Stampede is looking for $37 million for a new grandstand. The current two grandstands are used less than 10 times a year for paid events, and only sell out maybe once in a year. Maybe they really only need the south grandstand. Ticked Off That people cannot just come together instead of all this division. If we loved our neighbours more, helped the poor instead of ignoring them, stop hating, maybe this would be a better world to live in. We need to look in the mirror and see if we like ourselves. If not, we should make changes. Ticked Off At the Stampede presentation to city council the presenters said they have 700 event days annually. There are about 10 rental facilities at the Stampede grounds. The math works out to 70 events per facility per year. So that means the facilities sit empty 80% of the year. Why do they need more facilities? Does that make any sense to spend $35 million of taxpayers’ money? (Editor’s note: In fairness, the Stampede is requesting the city provide $14 million in grants and a $7-million interest-free loan.) Ticked Off You’re no longer “champions of the truth.” You’re a vehicle that pushes the editor’s opinions. You’re trying to shape the world by eliminating discussion on topics you feel need “correcting.” No dissenting opinions on “gender” or”natives” is ever published. (Editor’s note: You’re right. We are never going to print bigoted opinions, especially from someone who hides behind anonymity. That’s not ‘correcting,’ that’s ignoring an a**hole. Get a Facebook account. We aren’t obligated to cater this section to anyone.) Tickled Pink I cannot believe the number of people who believe a pension plan is a political decision. It is a financial decision. Your first clue as to the feasibility and potential security of an APP is the math behind the claim that one province is entitled to 53% of the Canada Pension Plan. You can vote whatever way you want and still keep the financial security of the CPP. Ticked Off Bruce Peyton’s comments in a new column in the News about a gentlemen’s club is so old school that all I can say is, Hello Boomer! Ticked Off When the date was set in Alberta to get the flu and COVID vaccine, why wasn’t it available to all Albertans at the same time? I’m sure there will not be a huge rush of people getting those shots. Ticked Off Tattoo complaint: Not your body, so not your choice. I have already turned down procedures at Foothills Medical Centre. They respected my right to decide for my body. By the way, it was a pic line, not a tattoo. I don’t think you have a say about my body. 59
