Ticked Off and Tickled Pink – Sept. 28, 2023

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on September 28, 2023.

Ticked Off

At the herds – yes, herds – of deer destroying things in Redcliff. These hoofed rats have been a growing problem for a number of years, and neither the town nor the provincial government have done anything about it. The problem doesn’t affect you guys so who cares, right? Tickled pink when CWD, predators, a brutal winter appears and does the job for the negligent elected officials.

Ticked Off

How banks always tell us what is causing high costs for consumers when they made $41 billion last year. If I borrowed money from someone at 23 per cent they would be classified as a loan shark. But if a bank does it on a credit card, it’s just good business.

Tickled Pink

Way to go Danielle Smith! Alberta will soon have its own pension plan, police force and a good start to separating from Canada. Bring it on.

Ticked Off

The UCP government can’t even run AHS properly and now they think they can run a pension plan? CPP is very well run and the envy of many other countries. I do not think the Alberta government is capable of doing it better. Good luck getting any money from the current pension plan.

Ticked Off

The reason the E. coli outbreak in Calgary occurred is because of untrained staff, low wages and more than likely long work hours. After being in the food services industry for over 25 years I see the real need for more red seal cooks. Yes, the price of food would go up, but so would the cleanliness and the quality of food. The government needs to set a higher ratio of trained staff vs. trainees.

Ticked Off

Keep the UCP hands off our CPP. You can’t manage our Heritage Savings Trust Fund properly, what makes you think you can take care of pensions?

Ticked Off

That Canada’s (former) House Speaker expects us to believe that he did not know he invited a Nazi to Parliament. He must have failed history class badly in Jr. High School.

Tickled Pink

With the strong leadership exhibited by our Mayor. It is so nice to have someone trustworthy like her in that spot.

Ticked Off

Riding bikes on sidewalks and cross ‘walks’ is against the law, and police or bylaw need to strictly enforce this. Bicycle riders need to be educated and have a course-completed certificate on their person or have their cycle seized.

Ticked Off

Did the residents of my building who leave their snow shovels and electrical cords in their parking stalls all year round receive letters as well? Or do they have “special” permission while the rest of us have to maintain a well-cared-for and tidy property.

Ticked Off

At our premier for putting all of our pensions at risk for some stupid political games. The CPP is a fund that all Canadians pay into and all Canadians get the benefit of. I for one am not ashamed at what we contribute to help others. The statements being made about “Alberta deserving 50 per cent of all the funds in the CPP” are so ridiculous, and quite frankly selfish and childish. Since when is our provincial government so anti-Canada?

Ticked Off

If you think for even one second that the PMO didn’t know they had invited an SS soldier to parliament, then you are probably one of the people writing in to this newspaper praising Trudeau. Wake up already.

Ticked Off

That a local citizen has access to the internet. It is not the mayor’s job to answer your copious amounts of Facebook messages and emails. She’s busy running a city. I’m glad my tax dollars aren’t going toward the mayor wasting time trying to appease you.

Ticked Off

I have a feeling an Alberta Pension Plan would turn out just like the Dynalife lab mess. Additionally I can see them ‘borrowing’ from it the first time there’s a recession and oils prices drop and unemployment goes up, and then never finding the money to pay it back.

Ticked Off

It appears the Medicine Hat News has cut back the Ticked Off/Tickled Pink to only once a week. Editor’s note: Fair assessment based on two missed Tuesdays in a row, but it was unforeseen circumstances both times and there will still be two each week into the future.

Tickled Pink

At all the single moms who are rockin’ it! Having to be both parents is a very hard life. So many stay-at-home moms who have a working partner have no idea how lucky they are.

Ticked Off

More of a concern than being ticked off. Where did all of the ants go? I’ve lived in my house for over 40 years and there’s been ants all over the place every summer. This year I’ve seen three.

Ticked Off

Damn mad at the Alberta government for considering coal mining again. Don’t they get it? Coal dust and the sentiment pollutes our rivers and lakes. Chasing the almighty dollar at the expense of future generations.

Ticked Off

At the city for their plan to introduce roundabouts at two intersections with no demonstrated traffic issues on Eighth Street SE, and their shenanigans downtown (Fourth Avenue and Third Street) in the name of “traffic calming.” It actually has the opposite result on competent safety minded drivers, besides being a huge waste of taxpayer funds. If you have problem drivers, punish them and not the rest of us.
