Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Sept. 19, 2023

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on September 21, 2023.

Ticked Off

By the human race. Is it so difficult to smile at someone, hold a door open, let someone go ahead of you, give to someone in need, or pray for someone? You are horses being led to the wrong watering hole. Help others, raise your families with the true values.

Tickled Pink

By all those participating in the Terry Fox Run, and a special thanks to all those who volunteer to organize it. I’m sure there is a lot more work than the average person realizes.

Ticked Off

It’s shameful that my adult child with severe disabilities, living on AISH, now has to cut back on “meals on wheels.” AISH hasn’t seen a substantial increase in years. Impossible to manage on $1,786 a month with rent, food and utility increases. It’s just a terrible ongoing situation for the most vulnerable. Alberta government leaders just don’t care and it sure shows.

Ticked Off

It’d be much easier to get behind the federal Conservatives if they didn’t have “attacking vulnerable minorities” (i.e. transgender people) as a staple of their campaign. Seriously, what do we have to do to get fiscally responsible representation without these insane social policies? There are more important things to focus on than bullying trans people on a national scale.

Ticked Off

No GST on new homes will not be realized by the homeowner. The builders and trades will continue to collect the 5% which will go in their pockets as extra profit. Only interest rate deductions for homeowners will help. Charge higher interest rates for those who want to finance all their big-boy toys, which are none essentials.

Tickled Pink

Super Tickled Pink to be a Tigers season ticket holder. It’s going to be a very exciting year watching this new generation of talent!

Ticked Off

That Co-op Place stopped serving deep fried pickles at the concessions. They were delicious. Bring back the pickles!

Ticked Off

I will be if I don’t see a certain citizen’s name on the ballot in 2025 as a mayoral candidate. She feels the need to comment on every social media post and spread nothing but ridiculousness and negativity. If you have all the answers and know how everything should be done, put your name on the ballot, or zip your lip. Your negativity is toxic and unproductive for our city.

Ticked Off

That the baseball team buses are permanently parked on 8th Street NE day and night, marring our lovely prairie view.

Ticked Off

At Coun. Shila Sharps. I cannot express how deeply disappointed I am in her lack of professionalism and disrespectful behaviour. She definitely is not who she showed herself to be during campaigning. I definitely won’t trust another word that comes out of her mouth.

Ticked Off

That a local resident is filled with such negativity. They think city council should be recalled because of food prices. Somebody with such limited knowledge and awareness should not have such a voice in social media or any other platform.

Ticked Off

I swear I’m getting an airhorn for Walmart parking lot. Open your eyes. Walking right behind vehicles that are running is just plain stupid, and hitting my car with your hand is asking for trouble. You’re fortunate your aggression didn’t get you in trouble.

Tickled Pink

Samantha Johnson, of the News wrote an excellent recap of the recent town hall held at the public library this week. It is great for those who couldn’t make it but still want some excellent facts about our great city.

Ticked Off

The Stampede board shows its true colours yet again. Women are not allowed to govern or lead this organization. The “old boys” win again.

Ticked Off

That city officials are doing a poor job handling homeless and addiction issues.

Ticked Off

With council members showing their true self-cantered agendas rather than being committed to their wage-paying residents. Shame on the whole council.

Ticked Off

Yes, I agree about the annoying coughing smokers on balconies But, the danger is the carcinogens they are emitting. Stay inside and keep both to yourself.

Tickled Pink

Thank you to the Medicine Hat News for the small article in Saturday’s paper listing the several events taking place in the city to finish off the summer in style. It’s wonderful to have one media source pull together this information.

Tickled Pink

So glad the News did a great job clarifying the baffling story (or “announcement”) delivered by another media outlet about the News.

Ticked Off

Last Saturday my big window was smashed at my business on Third Street. How much longer before city council does something about this situation downtown?

Ticked Off

Many Medicine Hat drivers must not know that you’re to wait until all pedestrians are fully out of the crosswalk before proceeding. Gunning it just a few feet behind my backside is not how it’s done.

Tickled Pink

If you don’t like your rent increase, perhaps vote for a party that supports rent caps.

Tickled Pink

I will be tickled pink if the Medicine Hat News publishes for many years into the future. You hear of newspapers in smaller centres shutting down all the time but I believe we need a local newspaper.

Ticked Off

I’m confused, is the city manager not answerable to the mayor and council? At a recent council meeting the mayor was asking the city manager questions when the city manager decided she had had enough and apparently that was the end of it.

Ticked Off

Why would someone from the media run with a story without checking the facts first? Why would someone try to scoop the Medicine Hat News on their announcement? That news station is difficult to watch as it is. Now we find out they’re lying to us as well. A simple retraction or apology by the people responsible isn’t enough. We deserve better news in this city. Not the fluff we’ve been getting.
