Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, July 6

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on July 6, 2023.

Tickled Pink

I recently had occasion to visit Co-op Place when I attended one of the conventions being held there. The city can be proud. It is a beautiful venue.

Ticked Off

Green space size lot chained off by city started growing plants down one side. They were about to flower. Only food source for rare butterflies. Neighbours carry water, strung orange tape, called parks, all to protect. City crew came and tore down ribbon, chewed plants right into ground, spread bits of plant all over, including road. They let everything grow on Gresham intersection but this out of the way quiet lot they mangle.

Tickled Pink

My solution to city water rates, cut back lawn area so less to water

Ticked Off

Scooters, bikes, motorized wheelchairs with flags on, when taking up lanes as motor vehicles do. At least have a helmet on. You’re no match for a normal vehicle. This city isn’t designed fully for bike traffic and expecting my vehicle to squeeze past you when there is oncoming traffic is an accident waiting to happen.

Ticked Off

Lazy salon hygiene there’s no excuse, so if your employees are too lazy rent them a chair and ensure they each clean their own space.

Tickled Pink

Expectation of public washrooms downtown was excessive on the public part. Considering how the portable ones were used, no wonder!

Ticked Off

To the person who let their dog crap in front of my back alley gate in NE Crescent Heights, and didn’t clean it up – it’s bloody disgusting to have to almost step in your dog’s crap you failed to clean up.

Tickled Pink

If there is ever an event held at ‘tin can alley,’ maybe the city should get the Sunshine Trolley to shuttle people to the parkade to use the facilities. It will certainly be safe.

Tickled Pink

That those contributing to the column have asked the city to put recent surpluses ($185 million) against the city’s debt. Once the debt is paid off, the city should seriously consider making us a national or world first by making utilities free.

Ticked Off

Ticked off that the city has dropped the ball on maintaining our once beautiful city. Weeds growing on medians and sidewalks, brown grass and dead trees throughout the city, roads that are falling apart and an overall look of neglect. It’s embarrassing that we’ve gone from a “Community In Bloom” to an eye sore.

Tickled Pink

I’m trying to help someone down on their luck get the care they need. I’m told it’s “not my job, not my responsibility.” It is all our responsibilities to help out another human. Not the government. Us. If we all reached out opioids wouldn’t be a problem and I’d be tickled pink.

Ticked Off

At the person crossing 13th Avenue SE across six lanes of traffic to get to the casino. Do you have a death wish? You were 10 feet from the crosswalk which had the walk sign lit up. You are living dangerously and may just end up getting hit. Jaywalking is against the law in this city.

Ticked Off

I guess we are the only ones that keep our deals of naming rights to buildings secret.

Tickled Pink

Would be if council paid as much attention to the homelessness issue as they do feral cats.

Ticked Off

Medicine Hat still has people who want the arena downtown. Co-op Place was built and is here to stay, That isn’t changing, get over it already. Why do people in this city hate change so much? Change is healthy. In Medicine Hat nothing is very far.
