Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Dec. 1

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on December 1, 2022.

Ticked Off

Two annoying distractions at Tigers games – the screaming game host and the very loud and horrible choice of music.

Tickled Pink

You don’t have to get ripped off, but you do have to shop around. There are some businesses who have resisted the urge to steal from their ‘friends and neighbours’ (as they like to call us, in all the TV commercials). One shop, in the bowels of South Ridge, hasn’t raised their prices and I’ll be doing a lot more business with them. Their products are homemade and very reasonably priced. I want other stores to know that my memory is long.

Ticked Off

We watched the prime minister, on camera and under oath, lie through his teeth. Sorry, Mr. Trudeau, there is such a thing as video that readily and easily proves that you are nothing but a smirking fibber.

Tickled Pink

“Urging organizations with vaccine mandates to change their minds and tying it government funds”… so, literally blackmail. Conservative values back at it again.

Ticked Off

Choice to mask, or not? A blissfully simple mindset that’s not applicable in the rest of our society? We follow laws for seat belts, helmets, speed limits, drinking/drugs and driving, public smoking, safety gear in oil gas or construction. All have consequences if not followed. Plus an endless list of other laws, each implemented to keep us and others safe. Guess being smart is also a choice.

Ticked Off

Trudeau supports Chinese citizens protesting against COVID rules yet when his own citizens try he refuses to talk to them, freezes their bank accounts and jails them. (Editor’s note: Only you will know what we cut off at the end here, but do try to keep your submissions somewhere in the realm of reality.)

Ticked Off

Rents are rising out of control every month, and the landlords profiting from this should be considered criminals.

Ticked Off

Smith hires former MLA Michaela Frey who quit to give her a safe seat. Shocking… Voters you have been played.

Ticked Off

Our pseudo premier is lying. She is trying to buy your vote with your own money. If you are one of those who are happy to take a bribe, you better save that money. You will soon need it to pay for your health care when she dismantles the entire public system and privatizes it, just so her and her pals can make themselves even more money off of your back.

Ticked Off

When the city builds large recreational facilities, does the ‘budget” for that project include maintenance for the years to follow? ie. Crestwood Pool; the previous mayor closed this facility because it would have cost too much to reopen. I love Crestwood Pool and believe it has a place in our neighbourhood, but isn’t money set aside for yearly maintenance and ‘rainy days’? (Editor’s note: Crestwood Pool was eventually reopened, though it was shut down Tuesday because of a mechanical failure.)

Ticked Off

With the UCP’s ongoing feud with Ottawa and the bait and switch politics they play while using it. They make us look like a bunch of hicks out West, and they don’t even have a mandate for the actions they are about to take on behalf of the people of Alberta with this Sovereignty Act. Call an election, Ms. Smith.

Tickled Pink

Even Jason Kenney doesn’t agree with Danielle Smith and they are from the same party.

Tickled Pink

That the Canadian men made it to the World Cup and played brilliantly. Ticked off that they wore “black” uniforms. Every other country’s team wore colours from their flags, and were proud to wear them! Don’t see any black on our flag. Are they ashamed of wearing the “red & white”? Can’t imagine the Brazilian team showing up in black.

Ticked Off

That by taxing us to death the government will change the climate, all the while I am struggling to heat my house.

Tickled Pink

With Daniel Schnee’s weekly opinion pieces. One week I love what he says and the next I think he is crazy. But I would never want him to be silenced. That is free speech.

Ticked Off

Alberta premier persuades Arctic Winter Games to remove vaccine mandate by threatening to pull funding. Just what we wanted, a premier who uses coercion to get her way. What a bully. She scares me!

Ticked Off

Jason Kenney resigned. In retrospect he was a voice of reason in the UCP. I agree with what he said in his resignation statement. “Democratic life is veering away from ordinary prudential debate towards a polarization” and “from the far right we see a vengeful anger and toxic cynicism.” I hope after the next election some sanity will return.

Ticked Off

People are commenting that masks are causing all the viruses like RSV. RSV has been around for years and children were hospitalized because of it. Why so many cases now? Maybe more population, more children in daycare, preschool settings, more kids in organized sports younger. People are around a larger demographic of people now, which then has a larger potential of more virus spreading.

Ticked Off

I sympathize. When you spout sovereignty, you should read the room first. Let’s have a referendum with your leadership on the line. (Editor’s note: We’re nearly positive those are still called elections, and boy do we have some breaking news for you…)
