Ticked Off and Tickled Pink: Jan. 4, 2021

Tickled Pink

Shop local it isn’t just a Christmas thing! It should be a first consideration. Big box store dollars do not stay in the community. Yes, they employ people but all profits go out to shareholders. Medicine Hat has some great locally-owned stores. Some may argue the cost, but look at those sale racks – you can get amazing quality items for great prices. I’ll support local first!

Ticked Off

Medicine Hat is not a luxurious place to live. Although, if you look at the prices to rent a house here you would think you’re trying to live in Calgary or Edmonton. FYI if you want good renters you need to lower the rent so people can afford to live there.

Tickled Pink

With our amazing neighbors. Thanks for shovelling our whole court, not once, but three times with the last snowfalls.

Tickled Pink

I’m ticked pink that the new police chief did not feel the need to arrest any kids trying to have some fun on our outdoor skating rinks. Don’t get any ideas!

Tickled Pink

Would be tickled pink if Medicine Hat Bylaw would fine people who live on corner lots and fail to clear the snow from the sidewalk surrounding the entire property. Shame on Medicine Hat Bylaw and residents who ignore the bylaw that was put there for the safety of all.

Tickled Pink

Hats off to all the Medicine Hat residents that chose to not gather over the holidays with family and friends. Thank you for showing your respect for our health care workers. All of you are the solution to COVID-19.

Ticked Off

That people in our city had out of town and out of province family in over the holiday season. You and our protesters are making the pandemic very problematic. Who is going to look after you when the health care system is overwhelmed? Disappointed in the lack of respect for others.

Ticked Off

MLA Barnes, it shouldn’t be shop local this Christmas, you should say shop local first. These local businesses need shoppers. The big box stores may encourage you with the pricing or the cheap merchandise but all those dollars you spend are to help the owners from another place get richer. Support local first all year!

Tickled Pink

As this unusual and sometimes difficult year draws to a conclusion, people all over the globe will be able to sing Auld Lang Syne with truly 2020 hindsight. Happy New Year!

Ticked Off

I’m going to start boycotting certain stores that aren’t taking COVID-19 seriously. Having someone sit at the door counting people who enter has no effect when you have no limit on customers in the store and whole families are walking in at will. There is nobody enforcing the mask mandate. You see people walking around with their masks around their neck.

Ticked Off

To the individual who came into my work place today; walked right up to me, removed their mask to ask me a question, and then proceed to cough and sniffle right at me and then tell me they are sick. Really?! Where is your mind set? It is grown adults like yourself that have put us in the situation we are in! Why on earth are you out while you are sick, and how dare you remove you mask and put me in the situation you did! Grow up!

Tickled Pink

I’m tickled pink it’s still light outside after 4:30 p.m.! Can’t wait to move our clocks ahead!

Ticked Off

I am ticked off because my neighbors left town for New Year’s. If you think you are not being seen think again. That is why we have everyone self isolating because of selfish people like you.

Tickled Pink

Tickled pink by Denis Hoffman’s letter to the editor regarding Trump’s economic record. I couldn’t agree more. He has gotten credit for the economy prior to COVID when really it was simply a continuation of what was already happening in the U.S. economy. Of course, I am sure Trump and his followers will see it differently even though the facts speak for themselves. Trump will likely call it fake news in spite of the uncontradictable facts.

Ticked Off

The ‘comb over’ hairstyle needs to be stopped. Some men need to stop lying to themselves and embrace their baldness.

Tickled Pink

Totally disagree with an earlier ticked off that Medicine Hat’s street decorations are cold and gloomy. Compared to other cities I’ve travelled to across Western Canada, our white and blue lights are crisp and very good throughout the entire winter months, not just during the holiday season.

Hats off to the city and its staff for a very good job on these lights, that many have complimented about during the last several years. Good job celebrating the season, which can be very trying!

Tickled Pink

So very happy with the fun and festive feeling of normality brought to almost all corners of our city by the Santa Claus parade. During the darkest days of the darkest year in recent memory, it seemed like the perfect tonic. It had a substantial benefit to local charity, but its best effect was on those locked down who could, if only briefly, feel the warmth of the season. Super thanks to Saint Nick and his elves for a job well done on those cold winter nights.

Tickled Pink

Tickled pink with the amazing generosity and true holiday spirit shown by my neighbours. As a single person without immediate family around to celebrate with, I was invited to their small family celebration on the 24th and had an absolutely awesome time complete with fantastic food, music and dancing. This is the true meaning of the season which is unfortunately lost in the materialistic reality of today.
