MP Report: Sharing a hopeful vision for Canada

By Medicine Hat News Opinon on February 1, 2019.

Call it optimism or positive expectations, whichever does not matter. What is relevant is the hopeful vision that Canada’s Conservatives hold for our country as we move towards the 2019 fall election.

Trudeau’s Liberal leadership has been taxing for Canadians — both literally and figuratively — but change is on the horizon.

With confidence I can assure Canadians a Conservative government will quash the Liberals’ negative trend of job losses, increased personal and business taxes, unnecessary carbon tax, and policies that have hindered prosperity, burdened our economic future and negatively impacted Canada’s security.

Conservatives’ core principles of sovereignty, national unity, free enterprise and individual achievement remain as strong today as they have historically. We continue to be committed to balanced budgets, secure borders, support for our armed forces and veterans, seniors and families. Holding criminals to account and assistance for victims of crime — contrary philosophy under Canada’s current leadership — will be clearly entrenched in our policies.

Economic policies under our Conservative government will promote investment and stop corporate Canada from fleeing to international destination for tax advantages. We will establish those incentives right here at home. By lowering taxes and the cost of living, curbing wasteful spending and enormous deficits, while promoting responsible financial management, all Canadians will benefit. All will keep more of their hard-earned money in their own pockets — meaning they will get ahead, not just get by.

Under Conservative leadership, Canada will continue to be recognized as a compassionate and generous country, but orderly, fair immigration procedures and merit-based international fiscal support will replace the current practice of backing causes based on photo-ops and alluring media headlines.

With your vote, two critical course corrections we will undertake once we form government later this year is getting pipeline projects back on the table and establishing gun laws that target criminals, not duck hunters and farmers.

From the outset Trudeau has wanted to phase out Canada’s energy sector. Conservatives on the other hand recognize Canada’s energy sector for the wealth and prosperity it brings to all Canadians. Our energy is produced with the most stringent environmental standards in the world. We will end the war on the energy sector by repealing Bill C-69, cancelling the shipping ban on the B.C. coast, scrapping the carbon tax, cleaning up Canada’s regulatory regime, and ending foreign meddling in pipeline approvals. We will get pipelines built and energy workers across the country back to work.

Conservatives believe a government’s responsibility to protect its citizens is its most sacred, thus we will introduce a three-pillar vision for a safer Canada among our policy priorities. These include measures that crack down on gangs, plus gun laws that target illegal firearms and criminals who use these guns to commit violence. Our plan will clearly demonstrate to Canadians that a Conservative government is ready to put their safety and security first.
