Today I present to you all a very sad and disturbing realization. Canada is no longer a polite and friendly nation. We have become a very self centred “Me First” nation. Now I am generalizing and there are a few who are not this way; however our political leaders are. We use to be a ... Read More »

It appears our own eastern potentate Justin Trudeau has given $12 million of our money to his very rich neighbour in snooty Westmount of Ottawa, one Galen Weston owner of Loblaws and Superstore to buy freezers from China. China no less. Obviously Loblaws does not sell canola. Meanwhile back on the farm the Canadian airforce ... Read More »

Sadly the real truth about this Alberta election is that ex-premier Rachel Notley stole the last election by promising to raise the minimum wage to $15 and hour, a hike of 50 per cent in only five years, and the 18-to-30-year olds turned out in droves and won her the election! This time around those ... Read More »

When will the city realize that we need another road in and out of Saamis Heights? Right now we have a temporary fix on both sides at the start of Sierra Road, due to sinkholes. These could deteriorate at any time, thus no traffic would be able pass this area, including firetrucks, ambulances, etc. Where ... Read More »

So while the children are squabbling over who gets to run Alberta, our infamous Senate has decided to dump the Phoenix payroll system and handle their own payroll with ADP. Typical Ottawa: Screw the employees, we come first. This behavior is becoming the norm for any politician of any stripe. They show up once every ... Read More »

There are two business worlds out there. One is capitalistic. The other is monopolistic. Most people think the big companies are really important in our economy. Nothing could be further from the truth. The whole focus of big investors and big multi-national companies is on short-term profits, avoiding paying taxes, reducing employee numbers and wage ... Mr. Kenney told his supporters in Fort McMurray this week that Ms. Notley ought to have done more to have the Trans-Mountain pipeline expansion move forward. Ms. Notley was not an Alberta member of Stephen Harper’s federal cabinet which initially approved this pipeline expansion. Mr. Kenney was a member of that cabinet. The Harperites’ approval ... Re: “Local candidates offer up childcare policies,” April 6 I found it interesting to read Mr. Barnes comments on $25-a-day childcare, particularly his remark that the UCP position “is not to subsidize daycare for ‘millionaire’ families.” Is the UCP suddenly no longer looking to subsidize business expenses for “millionaire” families either? Michael Plait Medicine Hat... Read More »

Another provincial election is upon us. Any person who thinks we’ll elect a government that every Albertan will approve of is living in La-La Land. Peter Lougheed, in my opinion, was the most principled visionary, with what appeared to be an honest desire to allow all Albertans – not just the well-connected and “elite” – ... Read More »

I am getting so sick of this election. I had emergency surgery last night and they sent some cultures for cancer testing. I would have died at home alone if it wasn’t for a person named Tommy Douglas. I have been saying for about 15 years, we need less politics and more policies for the ... Read More »

I get it! Change is traumatic. A recent political conversation with educated and caring professionals left me depressed. They blame Rachel Notley for job losses in the oil and gas industry. It is their family members who must work in Saskatchewan or out of country. For them, the culprit is the carbon tax, plain and ... Read More »
