Letter: Enough is enough with these ‘Black Hats’

Dear editor,

This is a letter to local ultra UCPers who call yourselves Black Hats (a sly way of distancing from the Red Hatted Orange Autocrat, I suppose). Since you are emulating Quebecois Separatistes I must ask why? Yet I believe I know the answer and it’s rather simple; greed and a self-centred way of exerting an “I want, I want” attitude that flies in the face of anything thoughtful, appropriate, fiscally responsible or probable.

You stamp your feet like two-year olds and declare “gimme.” Your mantra? More mining, pipelines, oil production, money (at least for those industries), not to mention more office refurnishing. Just realize what you have, don’t demand that you want more and more and more.

And what is it you say you want? Fewer taxes? Who will maintain the highways and roads that oil trucks damage? The right to refuse vaccinations for communicable diseases? Will you pay for the hospital care that such actions like this will bring about?

The list goes on; withdrawal from the Canada Pension Plan? The abrogation of treaties with First Nations Peoples? Creating for-profit hospitals? Forcing those with addiction problems into supposed “rehab centres” ? And, of course to, “drill Baby drill” to extract more that has led us to a quickly arriving global climatic catastrophe?

Simply look at the state of the world around you and understand that pretty much everything that’s good, appropriate, moral and productive, you already have.

Weren’t you busy enough damaging children’s education, violating “Truth and Reconciliation” programs, dismantling our health-care system, undoing the manner that those with alcohol, drug and gambling addictions are treated, wasting the windfall left over from previous governments and maintaining your political dominance of the province through chicanery and manipulation?

Stop complaining about Canada for not letting you do all the truly evil things you would like to do. And stop watching Fox News – try the CBC.
