Letter: Stop relying on social media for information

Dear editor,

What is responsible news media?

Responsible news media is radio, TV and newspapers who, if an error is detected in their distribution or dissemination, correct the error as soon as it is detected. Other media, who are not as bound to honesty or factual information, do not retract anything. Instead, they manufacture items, twist the facts and downright lie.

The reason I am writing this piece is to, hopefully, get the attention of those who rely on social media for their “factual” information. Nothing could be further from the truth! Most people of today turn to social media instead of using what they were born with – logic, reason, common sense and gut feelings.

When a person turns to social media for their information, they allow others to do their thinking no matter whether it is right or wrong. Please wake up before it is too late and we become emotionally numb.

If I am too blunt, it is intentional to get people to get back to doing their own logical thinking. Here’s to getting back to basics!
