Letter: The power of people is alive and well in Medicine Hat and Redcliff

By Letter to the Editor on November 11, 2021.

Dear editor,

We would like to share a story with you and your readers.

After a recent overnight stay in Medicine Hat, we started out on Highway 1 West. We didn’t get any further than just past Suffield when our vehicle shut down due to an alternator issue. We called AMA to assist with a tow, but due to COVID we are not able to ride with the tow truck driver which we totally understood. Our next calls were to several garages that were recommended. Most said they were five to seven days to get the work done. Only one assured us they not only could get the part but probably could do the mechanical work that day (Friday).

The next call was to the hotel where we had stayed the night before, thinking because of the weekend it would be busy. After telling the person that answered the phone our situation, she assured us of a reservation. She also said she would send someone to pick us up with all our luggage. His drive would have been over 80 kilometres return.

We have always believed in the power of people and boy did it ever show up that day.

We would like to thank the following:

– The AMA Driver (good attitude and care to our vehicle);

– Best Western Medicine Hat for a complimentary night stay and breakfast, and friendly staff like Natalie and Peter;

– Jason and Jamie at Napa Autopro in Redcliff (Great, reliable service);

– Taylor, our server at Boston Pizza (her attitude and hard work was remarkable).

Thank you Medicine Hat and Redcliff. We can still feel your shine.

We shall return someday.

Bob and Peggy Page

Invermere, BC.
