Letter: Hatters deserve a say on sale of power plant

Dear editor,

My family is saddened to hear that Medicine Hat’s mayor and eight council members are making the decision to sell off property that does not belong to them, but does belong to the 65,527 residents of Medicine Hat. I do not feel the decision to move on something so big it will impact every household in this beautiful city should be left to nine representatives of our city. I realize that the voting members of the city voted you in however, in October 2021 those members may change. 

I also would like the mayor to reconsider and retract the statement that this issue is so complex that the average citizen couldn’t possibly understand the complexity behind making the decision to sell off our electricity-generating assets.

Please reconsider my family’s thoughts on this matter.

With great respect and hope for the future of citizens of Medicine Hat.
