Letter: We’re Albertans. Let’s do this ourselves

Dear editor,

Why are Canadians, and in particular Albertans, wasting time and energy over who did or did not win or cheat in the U.S. presidential election? We have no input whatsoever, so who cares?

Why are Albertans whining and crying about why Justin Trudeau stuck it to us again? We all know the election is decided by the time the polls close in Ontario, so again, who cares?

Let Jason Kenney and the other premier’s deal with him. If Jason wants to boot the RCMP, collect federal tax and decide how much Ottawa gets, so be it.

We as Albertans have a province to save from ravages of benign neglect, mostly Albertan neglect. This province has seen more than its fair share of busts, economic depression, plagues and famines and we are still here – and by the looks of it we are still better off than most Canadians.

Come on Alberta… so oil and gas – if you will excuse the pun – is in the tank, we have a population of well educated, imaginative, driven, can-do folks. Let us find another option, come up with something new, make it ourselves and get on with our lives, pay taxes, educate our children and enjoy life.
