Letter: Every situation comes with a silver lining

By Letter to the Editor on December 15, 2020.

Dear editor,

There is always a silver lining to every situation.

Most of the time, whatever happens to me I look for the silver lining no matter how bad it looks, it is more challenging that way. Anyone can complain. So as the year is coming to an end we tend to look back at the “wonderful 2020”. I have no real complaints, I miss going to live theatre and to support groups in person, but that is it.

On the positive side it is the first time in my life that I can sit at home and not experience sensory overload, or recover from it. Every other time in my life I had to come home after a three-hour meeting – in lights that I swear were designed to burn out my brain – go into my room, turn out the light and listen to classical music for at least an hour to recover. Most of these meetings when it got to my turn I couldn’t speak at all. It has been a delightful year. At times there has been little traffic, At times not as many people in stores. I am sorry that so many people are dying. I worry about my family tremendously that I don’t see because they live away. We take the good with the bad. I am used to struggling as best I can, and it is just another year of doing that. All we can do is pray that we make it through till we can all get vaccinated. I will gladly go back to being oversensitized in the world, if I can see everyone alive and well. In the meantime I will enjoy my break from the hustle and bustle of the world.
