UCP creating unemployment

By Letter to the Editor on November 11, 2020.

Dear Editor,

Jason Kenny and the UPC ran on a platform of creating jobs for Albertans and getting Albertans back to work.

He and his government just announced cuts of 11,000 jobs by privatizing laundry, lab work and food services in AHS and cutting 930 jobs in the public service.

So public service jobs are sacrificed for supposed future private sector jobs.

It seems like they are intent on depriving people of jobs rather than getting people jobs.

So far the UCP are contributing to unemployment. The unemployed cannot pay taxes or contribute to the economy.

The UCP also spent a lot of time publicly blaming the federal government for the woes of the Alberta economy.

Do they now expect the federal EI program to take care of all those who have lost their jobs?
