Can’t think clearly, breathe with mask

By Letter to the Editor on July 16, 2020.

I have been trying to wear a mask occasionally but I have I sensory issues due to being on the Autistic Spectrum, my face is particularly sensitive. I have trouble wearing my glasses for more than 15 minutes at a time.

Today I went to church for the first time since March which was wonderful. I have been enjoying an online service, but it is not the same as church in person. I wore my mask inside and put it on only to sing. The first hymn almost did me in, apparently it affects my asthma to sing with a mask on, the build up of carbon dioxide. I love to sing in the choir, it brings me closer to God, and singing in a church is the ultimate as far I am concerned. I won’t be doing that again. The most important thing about going to church is hearing the word of God and listening to the minister.

So next week in church I may take my mask again to get into church, but once I am to my place I will take it off and enjoy the service without it on and listen to the singing. There are reasons why some people don’t wear masks. I know there is a pandemic on but I also need to think clearly and breathe, I can’t do that with a mask on.
