Enough is enough, the demonstrations are crossing the line, breaking the law

By Letter to the Editor on February 19, 2020.

I have never had any issues with peaceful demonstrations or protests across our great country. Things like picket lines, peaceful demonstrations, etc. have always been useful for us to get our concerns heard.

A lot of these demonstrations/protests are going over the line and starting to impact the livelihood of many Canadians. I have a fear that if not dealt with soon that it could turn violent. Right now demonstrators are blocking transportation by rail, truck and pipelines which is impacting honest Canadians who just want to make a decent living and support their families. This is starting to have a big domino effect on our economy and it’s time for government and law enforcement to get serious here as these people are breaking the law.

We have enough issues impacting the economy that we don’t need these additional man made problems.

Our products and resources need a way to get to markets in Canada or around the world and when that doesn’t happen things will slow down as we are already starting to see. The trains have been slowed to a snail’s pace recently with major railways announcing slow downs across the country (impacting both people and products), and pipeline construction has been impacted.

It’s about time Prime Minister Justin Trudeau got off his high horse and came home from travelling around the world promoting to get Canada a seat on the UN. He needs to deal with these important issues at home.

I have a couple of suggestions for those demonstrators/protestors that are unlawfully impacting our country (pick one).

1. Turn your gas and electricity off on your homes and sell your vehicles and move out to the middle of nowhere and live off the land – you won’t need rail, truck, or pipelines to live. 2. Get a job and become productive members of society. Enough is enough.
