New name, same bad behaviour

Re: “Decision by Kenney, UCP was an abuse of power,” Dec. 24 I am in total agreement with what Gregory R. Cote wrote. What is so disturbing is that many Albertans do not want to question the validity of Jason Kenney being premier, after the things that have been going on, including him firing the Elections Commissioner, Lorne Gibson. They seem to get uptight and complain about a democratic deficit in Ottawa, and want Prime Minister Justin Trudeau criminally prosecuted, for who knows what, yet they brush Jason Kenney’s obvious questionable conduct aside. If this sounds familiar in Alberta, that’s because it is. We had the Alberta PCs ruling Alberta for decades, with a total vice grip on power. The Alberta PCs used to have a credible and practical thinking leader in Peter Lougheed, but that changed when he was no longer our premier. Since then, the Alberta PCs have been allowed to get away with all kinds of bad behaviour and the biggest financial blunders year after year. Lo and behold, the UCP is doing just as bad as the Alberta PCs were for all those years. What happened in both cases? Ottawa, and other provinces, such as Quebec are used as the scapegoats. We supposedly gave our money to them, which is malarkey. The problem is internal. What goes on in Ottawa, under the Liberals for questionable conduct and reckless spending pales in comparison to what happens in Alberta, under our Conservative governments. It’s unfortunate that many Albertans did not remember why we had to finally get rid of the Alberta PCs, in 2015, and why it’s not a good idea to keep Conservatives in power. The fact is they are no longer conservatives, they are Reformers and there is a huge difference, as it was pointed out to me many years ago by former MLAs from the Lougheed era. They are only interested in looking after their own well being and that of their rich friends, just like Jason Kenney is doing and Ralph Klein did. Now watch these ignorant seniors come out and hurl their sarcastic comments at us because they aren’t smart enough to understand it. They love watching these reformers steal their money.
