A disagreement over God and the federal election

By Letter to the Editor on November 13, 2019.

Re: “CPC’s social conservative culture led to Scheer’s loss,” Nov. 6

Should I thank you, Mr. Thomsen for your “informed” and “well thought out” perspective on religion and politics? Should I appreciate your free-flowing insights as they meandered aimlessly between political anti-conservatism and theological anti-theism?

I do agree with you that perhaps the reference to God in the preamble to the Charter and the CPC’s social conservative culture did indeed affect the results of the federal election (I would suggest, negatively).

Where we will not agree is the degree to which God, the Holy Spirit and conservative morality – could have and should have – affected the federal election, positively.
