Many uses for plastic shopping bags

By medicinehatnews on August 12, 2019.

At least 25 years ago, I opened out a plastic shopping bag, made a pattern and began sewing bags for myself, my sisters, and my mother. I made them out of a solid knit fabric from the clearance shelf at the fabric store.

I still have some of the original ones and have made many more since.

Still, one does accumulate plastic bags. In recent years, I anticipated the demise of bags and began saving them, rolling them up and keeping them. There are so many second possible uses, I don’t know how one would get along with none. Garbage container under the sink, lining bathroom garbage cans, sharing garden produce, sending something home with your kids, or many other uses.

I recently saw one retailer’s paper bags — just as big as the old-days grocery bags and they had no smaller ones. I was astonished. I thought we cared about not cutting down too many trees.
