Letter in Newfoundland paper was ‘hogwash’

I was recently reminded of the dislike or – let’s call it what it is, “hate” – of people by others everywhere.
On July 17, a Newfoundland newspaper called The Telegram published a letter to the editor from Mr. Gord Cowan of Medicine Hat, titled, “An N.L., vote for the Federal Liberals is a betrayal of Alberta.” Mr. Cowan was very upset at Newfoundlanders for voting for the Liberals in the last federal election in 2015. He has given Newfoundlanders a warning.
Should Newfoundlanders be so bold as to do so again, Newfoundlanders would require passports to enter Alberta if the Liberals win another term as Alberta would separate from Canada.
Mr. Cowan, it is only an unpleasant and offensive person who picks on a population of 536,000 people. How in the hell does this many people have sway on what happens in Alberta with a population of 4.307 million? It seems, since the Conservatives have been “reinstalled” as the government and led by Jason Kenney anything goes: Albertans may now be as distasteful as they like!
It is not acceptable to tell another province how to vote. We have a Charter of Rights and Freedoms which says Canadians can vote as they see fit. What is even more unacceptable is the fact that Newfoundlanders have been singled out as having voted Liberal and not followed “Alberta’s lead.” Who are you, Mr. Cowan, to dictate as to how Newfoundlanders ought to vote and then to deliver a threat? This kind of “dictatorship” can’t happen here in Canada? You sir are a prime example of how it could happen here and it seems to be a delight of yours to be able to utter such hogwash as an Albertan.

Well said Anne. It’s no wonder Albertans are the laughing stock of many of our fellow Canadians, or why we are in this horrible financial mess the Klein, Stelmach and Redford governments put us in. While these fools bad mouth other provinces, or those of us who don’t share their ignorance, they help Liberals, using Reform Party policies, pretending to be conservatives give away our oil wealth and tax breaks to their rich friends and aren’t smart enough to understand what it’s done, and going to do to us. I’m sure they are thrilled that Kenney is making it so his rich friends in the power industry can once again screw the people out of their money and is once again is privatizing the issuing of drivers licenses so we can continue to have the worse drivers in Canada, costing us billions of dollars in health care costs.
I wonder how many of them are going to be willing to shell out thousands of dollars to pay for the Orphan Well crisis their hero Ralph Klein created for us?
